Our argument is that we're better.  We don't whip up mobs to achieve our goals.  We are careful not to become the enemy we oppose.  We do this because we know that it doesn't work, and because the risk of ourselves turning into dangerous zealots is too great; we are human afterall.

Respectfully Dio, this is the way it USED to be.  The liberal/progressive movement has devolved into what the Tea Party was during the Obama Administration.

You like to think you're very different, but you're not.  Go down the same road as the Deplorables, but on the other side of the street, matching their brutality with your own, and you're going to end up in the same destination:  Hell.

I ain't saying you got to love them, but get in the mud with them and they win.

Winner winner, chicken dinner.

Look, I actually agree with most of you on here regarding the current administration.  Maybe not to the same hyberbolic degree, but I believe we agree on some generalities.  However Dio is correct here - while you are all in your echo chambers of hating Trump, there is a growing sense that the left, not the right, is out of control.  This is not my opinion btw...just an observation from someone who talks to people all over the country, from many different demographic groups.

Right now the political discourse is being dominated by the 20% on each side, and the 60% in the middle are being pulled apart - not a good recipe for the country in general.

If I could punt two phrases from this cycle into the cloud it would be echo chamber and snowflake.  There complete lack of self realization from the right with this is mind numbing.  "Liberals" (I'm not talking about the fringe aspect of the party - you have that with any political wing), are not in an echo chamber.  They are actively seeking diversity both from their constituency and in belief.  They read informed opinions based on crazy concepts like facts and science.

The actual echo chamber is the 50 year old Midwesterner who spends all day on Facebook or glued to Rush in the afternoon and Hannity at night.  Technology and media have created a constant feedback loop where you can inculcate yourself entirely from any opposing thought.  This has only been exacerbated by the post-truth world DJT functions in and promotes.  His supporters hear buzz words like echo chamber and snowflake and think they're trolling liberals spouting that nonsense without the slightest recognition or irony that they are exactly what they're criticizing.  You know who the biggest snowflake in America is?  The president.  Let's make fun of Ivy League or Cal students for attempting to secure an education or promoting an agenda of inclusion, label them snowflakes, and not realize their autocrat of choice throws three tantrums a day when conditions aren't picture perfect to massage his ego.

The whole thing is absurd hypocritical bullshtein and all it takes for someone to point is out is to have a conscience.  Anyone not seeing the decades-long harm that Trump is doing to destabilize fundamental tenets of our society (truth matters, free press, advocating for unilateral action without due process) is blind.

This isn't a blanket approval for all things the left does.  I would have considered Kasich against Hillary.  I like Brian Fitzpatrick.  The left goes too far in some regards.  But that is, like igy said, a standard political argument that we used to have.  That's not the type of dispute on policy we're allowed to have with DJT anymore.  The call is coming from inside the house.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

As much as I want to faux rage on this ironic generalization, I can not.

My neighbor across the street informed of a shooting that happened a few blocks away. His words were, "I'd hate to say it, but [I honestly don't remember the exact words, but they were not acceptable] at least they took each other out".

"If you hate to say it so much, why did you readily say it?" Motherfarger owes me answers.

Oh it's way beyond the Midwest, obviously.  Half of Bucks County voted for Trump.  I just picked a random stereotype from a generic Trump rally to make a point, but it's everywhere for sure.

I have a feeling though, that we'll disagree with who is a "racist" and a "Nazi".

its not very hard

so 90% of republicans support trump right now....to be fair this is 90% probable voters...so im sure there are never trumpers out there who dont show up in these numbers cause they arent going to vote...still 90% of republican voters is like 45 million people give or take

that being said lets do this...

10% are never trumpers - people like michael hayden.....steve schmidt (actually left the party over trump)...bill kristol - these are people who i would have serious serious policy differences with but who generally are moral upstanding good people who are on the correct side of right and wrong - NOT racist

25% are white supremists/nazis - steven miller, steven bannon, jeff sessions, trump, alex jones, sebastian gorka, and people like these trump supporters who have attacked a church seven times in the last seven weeks in the name of trump https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Virginia-Church-Worship-Hall-Vandalized-With-Racist-Slurs-486621991.html - RACIST!!

50% are just straight up regular racists but arent full blown white supremacists or nazis -much of the tea party...most republican house members....your racist uncle at thanksgiving, most of sd's family - RACIST

15% are accomplice racists - these are mostly rich people who love their tax break....some christians who just want abortion gone...second amendment people...in other words they will tolerate racism for tax breaks supreme court judges and gun right protection but maybe arent racist...now dont get me wrong tho a lot of these people fall into that 50% are are definitely racist but im not ready to go all the way and call them actual racists...they are more immoral one issue voters...one could easily make the argument that if you arent fully against white supremacy and racism then you are for it...but i tend to not want to go there and give the benefit of the doubt to some of these people

nothing angers me more than the false equivalency arguments the right puts up...just farging be straight forward and honest about your support for trump and his hideous ideas and policies....instead they try and deflect by yelling about obama or hillary and saying they are the same but just different...no they are not the same....obama and bush werent remotely alike and bush is light years closer to obama than he is to trump

the lastest is freaking out about the red hen but supporting bakers who wont serves gays

this is not the same thing...having a restaurant staff feel uncomfortable serving a lying anti democracy troll who is the spokesperson for a hate mongering racist autocratic is not the same as not serving someone because of their skin color or sexual orientation
