whole reason i ended up in the government is because i got laid off and wanted to find a job with the best possible job security

guess what you do when you get laid off....you go and get another job

yea look at me...im a stooge in corporate america. granted i left on my own but the news industry being what it is, i wasnt too far away from the cutting line no matter where i ended up.

i know most of those people will be fine but unless its fox news or people doing corrosively bad work ill never have a dismissive attitude toward people losing their jobs.

you only care because its media gossip and you are obsessed with it...you dont actually care about any of these people....shtein you dont even know who half of them are....and if these were wall street layoffs or a retail box store was going out of business you really really wouldnt care

who is celebrating ?

saying someone sucked isn't celebrating, saying you wont lose sleep over this, isn't celebrating.

no one here is celebrating.....on twitter all day there have been espn haters celebrating and going back n forth with media people who's arguemnt with the haters has been that they should have empathy to3ards anyone who loses a job...lil guy follows a lot of these media people and so he co opted their arguments and brought them here for some reason

big box stores or wall street arent important jobs....theres another firm and another store....journalism is important, and espn is one of its biggest entities. if one place has, or had, the capital to support journalism for the sake of journalism, its espn. thats why these layoffs are so discouraging. they are getting rid of people who do good work and keep people who read words off a prompter or shout sports opinions to each other.

it has nothing to do with twitter....i would have the same reaction without it. the #1 thing you care about for sports is top 25 college football rankings, the hotness of anchors and lee corso putting on a mascot head. i guess those things arent in danger so hooray
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

ice grillin you

an online writer for espns hockey page is not important...a sportscenter talking head is not inmportant....certainly not as important as joe the plumber losing his job at home depot and not being able to support his family...again these are highly educated people with good resumes....they can get a job almost anywhere....shtein stark could retire today and be fine

your most important jobs in the country are whoever makes the nfl schedule and whoever works at neilson...losses there would cut deep with you

any person providing information that people want is doing something valuable and important...whether its sports, tech, porn -- more information is a good thing

but you are right the dudes who put the nfl schedule together have perhaps the most important job in the country
