theres no question the misogyny of the nfl has turned off people over the last five years and its effecting the ratings...i have no idea how much in terms of a neilson pt scale i dont think anyone does...you can only point anecdotally at it thru things like social media and the media at large but the signs are pretty prevalent and im sure its having an impact even if a small one at this point

just in my minuscule world i know i basically only watch the eagles these days...my brother doesnt watch football anymore at all...i cancelled my fantasy league this year and almost half the league didnt care because they are tired of the nfl and its old white mans club ownership plus goodell on these issues

its a backwards ass disgusting world the nfl is in right now and people have noticed
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

I have pretty much stopped watching non eagles games as well and no longer do fantasy football.

Now, while that has a lot to do with the product, I can not deny that seeing guys get fined for wearing something the nfl isn't making money off of along with watching that disgusting waste of money and court time chasing brady around over deflategate, but then here's another cover up on domestic violence isn't part of it.

Hate to bring up yet another race issue here, but Ray Rice/Greg Hardy/AP all got suspended and/or released due to their domestic violence issues.

Josh Brown isn't allowed to go to London.

Rome

He's been placed on double secret probation.  What more do you want?

im not even accusing anyone of racism nor do i put past anyone but just on optics alone how are they not going after brown full force full well knowing that race would be brought up if they didnt...the fact that they are slow playing this and their overall lack of awareness is beyond explanation

The NFL farged this all up. The other day on NFL Live or one of those NFL shows on ESPN - I think Trey Wingo was hosting - there was a black dude just going off on Josh Brown and the NFL. He made a great argument. I wish I could find the clip.

QB Eagles

On the Exempt List. He done.

the nfl tried to sweep this under rug just like they did with rice before the video surfaced.

apparently nfl security had to move his wife and kids to a different room at the pro-bowl because he was going off on her. they knew all about this.

Sounds like there was a big communications fargup between the King County Sheriff's office and the NFL, and neither side comes off seeming very intelligent.

Steelers protected a rapist, Giants protected this psychopath. So much for the gold standard organizations in the NFL.

Rome

At least our retarded gladiators only kill themselves and torture innocent doggies.

Rome

Speaking of Vick, it's been six years since his breakout 2010 season.

The ratings breakdowns I've seen are showing that roughly the same number of people are watching, but are watching fewer games and less time per game. That suggests it's not outrage at anything, but probably a combo of uninteresting games and people having other shtein to watch/do. You'd also have to explain why people are much more outraged at the league during night games than the day games. People say they care about the domestic violence, CTE, anthem protests, officiating, rule changes, etc. (I think I heard one moron blame player showboating for the ratings decline) but it turns out that mostly people will watch games if they are good.

Other than the NBA postseason, have the ratings for any national sports broadcasts truly been up this year? Last I heard, SportsCenter itself was down double digits. I remember hearing about the Olympics, Wimbledon, the NCAA Bowl games, and the Stanley Cup Playoffs all doing catastrophically. There's too many entertainment options now. If you show boring shtein (and sometimes even if you show amazing shtein like the Villanova game), people will tune out.

yes. basically the same people are watching, theyre just not staying with it for long enough to be counted by the ratings. why? likely a myriad of reasons. bad games, bad matchups, other entertainment options, porn, message boards with a .info, etc.

espn is in almost 10 million fewer homes than it was just a handful of years ago. people are not consuming television in the same way they did before and it is becoming increasingly difficult for everyone to reach them.

this is also true. awful announcing, i think, actually went into the numbers and found out the nfl was down with women and that was before this year's ratings drops. my sister, bless her spoiled funhole heart, doesnt watch the nfl anymore because of the DV stuff. she was never super into it, but there you go.

i dont see how someone can complain about an old boys white man millionaire club and then consume copious amounts of ncaa football, but i digress. the nfl most certainly has a woman problem and just this week they tried to ignore ANOTHER one of their players being a serial woman beater.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Not a fan of Schlereth but he made a great point today. The NFL preaches the no domestic violence stuff, but when it comes down to it they do nothing and generally try to sweep it under the rug. On the other hand they spend countless hours and money on enforcing uniform regulations, shoes, and deflated footballs. Glad their priorities are straight.

Probably Jim Trotter. He goes at Goodell hard.

And yeah they bungled it...again. It's not shocking to be honest. But I'm amused at how they act shocked when they get ripped for trying to cover it up.
