luke cage is to me, the best of the three marvel series that Netflix has done so far.

Just finished season 1 and I don't think I could disagree with this any more. It's a good watch if you're into it, but I could easily see a casual observer tuning out on this one. The acting is mostly bad and the writing is ok at best.  I liked how they ended the finale though...it was very Wire-esque. 

Next up for Netflix I believe is Iron Fist and then The Defenders.

well out of the three which all had mediocre acting and writing IMO, I thought it was the best. I really liked the harlem angle they pushed, plus the mix of hip hop & R&B they used to me was excellent.

but hey, im just simple minded and don't need my shows to be on an "art of war" level to enjoy them.

Haha...I definitely like the Harlem angle and the music is definitely legit, but I thought they did a weak(er) job on the story telling than DD and it's probably about the same as JJ.  Guess my biggest problem with it is you have to get about halfway through the season before it really clarifies where the story falls in the time line.  Maybe there were some clues I missed in the first few episodes. I definitely love the Shaft/Jackie Brown vibe the show puts out though. Hated how Cottonmouth went out and wasn't a big fan of the Cage/Diamondback final fight scene...came off a little too Craig vs Debo.  Also, they ripped a line straight from one of Snoop's skits on Doggystyle that you could see coming from a mile away. That really annoyed me for some reason.

agreed on cottonmouth, thought he should've been a long standing antagonist for cage. not sure if that's how the comic went down or not but I thought he was the best character on the show.

I'm cool with him getting killed off, I just hated the way they did it.

Shades is that dude though. They are doing a great job with him.

I just cant stand mariah. the character is annoying as hell, but yeah, rossi is doing a nice job in his role. shades seems to find a way to come out of every situation.

Yeah, she's annoying as hell and in way over her head with the gangsta life.  Would love to know how Shades got Misty's phone though. 

Also, how much bank is Rosario Dawson making off this entire Marvel franchise?

I have been wondering that myself. nice seeing that the file on carl lucas was found in pop's place though.

So far it's going in an interesting direction, with a couple of intertwining arcs that may or may not meet somewhere down the way.

Would love to know how Shades got Misty's phone though.

She dropped it during the chaos at the Barbershop...the director even made a point of stopping the camera for a second to show it on the floor. You should pay more attention to stupid shtein; start with this post.

I remember her dropping it, but I also remember shades and Mariah making a dash once shtein went sideways. So basically shades was too distracted to take Luke's freedom papers but not so much that he could pick up a cellphone.  omgplothole!!
