You guys are acting like the offense is going to be historically bad.

not predicting it but it could be....but it also doesnt need to be for the eagles to win 3-5 games...it just needs to be one of the worst in the league this year...it could be like say dallas' last year...how many games did they win 4 5?

Again I'm fully aware of who was on the team. You're not talking to some Johnny come lately fan

Look I get that you're in for a 4-12 season with them averaging 3.6 points per game.

If I pick them to go 10-6+ in some years I'm a homer

This year I'm saying 7-9 and it's still not bad enough

Eagaholic

I think the last time people were this pessimistic about the upcoming season was when Kelly first came in. The talent poor defense was converting to a 2 gap 3-4 for which the current players seemed ill suited, and it was being led by Billy Davis from Cleveland. The team was coming off of a 4-12 year.

7-9 is fine, I just don't see how you could think this defense is going to account for a few wins when they aren't as talented or as deep as the 99 unit.  If this team wins 7 games, it's because Pederson turns out to be an idiot savant and Wentz is the next Tom Brady.

SD

I'll give them 6 wins, partially because I don't think any team in the NFC East is that great. If they were in a tougher division I'd lean towards the 4-5 win range.

Rome

Are they really worse than last year, though?  I agree that Pederson looks like he's completely overmatched and Wentz being a rookie is a huge question mark, but the defense and special teams are going to above average and the offense is going to be a shade above fair.

On a scale from 1-5, I'll rate it this way:

Defense: 3.5 out of 5.

Special Teams: 3.5 out of 5.

Offense: 2 out of 5.

Looking at the schedule they play very average teams in the division, so you have to figure at least 3-3 there.  Are they really going to go 3-7 against everyone else?

7-9 seems entirely reasonable to me.  If Wentz stays healthy and is at least average and Pederson doesn't panic like a fleshpophead and actually runs the ball more than they pass it, it seems more than reasonable.

Frankly I'd be thrilled if they were in the playoff hunt in December.  I'm not * expecting * it but if they're competitive in most games and show progress with Wentz, I think that's all we can really ask, especially considering the dearth of weapons on offense and Pederson being a total wildcard.

Diomedes

I was the fourth, look it up.

Apart from evaluating Coach and QB, I'm going to be watching DGB closely.  I have a hope that he blossoms into a bona fide one.

the offense was probably a 2 with bradford maybe a 3....with wentz and pederson plus the lack of talent anything above a 1 would have to be considered a pretty big suprise...and if peters gets hurt anytime during lane johnsons suspension they become a negative 3...their line has real potential to be scary awful and in front of a not ready for the nfl yet qb that has apocalypse written all over it

im definitely in for 50 bucks if anyone is interested....ill take 6 or below and you get 7 or above

wentz got some mac like offers and then 1-aa's.

i know youre a college fan boy but talent evaluations made about a player at 17 having no bearing on him when hes 23. wentz looked like a pasty dork at 17....he grew real late. too late. the points about him not having enough reps and playing at a lower level are all valid, but what some losers at scout.com thought about him doesnt matter.

do you know who the #1 qb recruit was wentz's year? jeff driskel. #2? braxton miller. #3? brett hundley.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I actually disagree that Pederson looks completely overmatched.   I have no enthusiasm for him whatsoever and think he'll prob be a meh/bad coach, but he didn't make any egregious mistakes like I was expecting in preseason.

i like what hes doing off the field....i dont think hes going to be horrible game prep wise. they werent bad in the colts game. he has good assistants around him.

where im super concerned with him is in-game adjustments and game strategy (clock management, go for it/punt, timeout usage, situational playcalling, etc.).

flacco was practicing for a year at a big 5 fbs school while wentz was an afterthought at north dakota state....flacco had a seasons more worth of reps in college...the experience absolutely does matter when you are a rookie...and even with all that and on a better team flacco had a pedestrian rookie year...throw in that wentz hasnt taken a snap in a month leading up to his rookie season and i dont see how anyone cant expect anything less than him being really bad this year...wouldnt even shock me if he was benched at some point in the first half of the season

chip was incredible in the packer game last year and he was a genius who was going to the superbowl after that game....pederson cant form complete sentences but that preseason colts game!!

thats all you have to base an opinion on his game prep, though. im less concerned with that. any coach thats been around the nfl thats not a stubborn fat college coach can identify weaknesses and plan something that could work.

will he better at it than billy b? NO. but im sure it wont be a massive issue. what will be is halftime adjustments and him thinking quickly on his feet as the playclock is winding down. 2 minute drill. hey doug we have 10 seconds to decide if we want to kick a fg or go for it, what do we do?

thats my concern.
