The only "reason" to not vote someone unanimously is because no one has ever been voted unanimously. Babe Ruth wasn't. Hank Aaron wasn't. So no one ever will be.

Whoever did that also knew that some guys on his top 10 list had no shot of getting in. So even if you take it seriously, that excuse makes no sense.

Griffey's first 10 years are unassailable. Most players don't get in based off of 10 year production, though. No doubt he was a first ballot guy and probably deserved unanimous selection.
