The Humans pilot was a cliched mess.  I'll watch more, though, because science fiction.

Is the Brink somehow not as bad as TD?  I've been slightly entertained in a Veep way.

Humans is pretty cool so far.  I want a robot

the brink is terrible...its a complete mess. they have an OK cast and a decent idea but they are totally off tone-wise. the show has no clue what it is.

ballers on the other hand knows exactly what it is. if ballers were a book, it would be 15 pages long with big font and lots of pictures. the show is 8 miles past retarded and i love it.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

The Brink definitely isnt sure what it is.  But Nick from The Wire, and the guy from Generation Kill.

I didn't mind the first two episodes but I disliked the last TD episode.

Caught up on Ballers last night. It's definitely getting better. Enjoyed it a hell of a lot more than TD.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

I'll just pile on. I'm watching True Detective, because there's not much else on that I'm interested in. The acting/casting/writing has been laughable to the point where I think that I'm watching mostly to see how ridiculous it'll get next. Vince Vaughn is ridiculously out of place. And McAdams isn't right for her part either, though she's a little less laughable. But the writing hasn't helped any of them.

SunMo

i was never excited about this season but i was planning on watching it eventually.  based on these reviews i may not.  i have plenty of other netflix shows that i want to watch
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

The best (worst) scene was when VV was looking back at his wife this third episode...doing some bullshtein with his eyes. I was cringing.

It has a chance to get better. The problem is they're trying to create a sense of intensity and darkness without really earning it through the script. If feels melodramatic, and the plot is sprawling around at the moment to the point of diluting any central themes or creating the right atmosphere for what they're trying to do. It's as if the writers want to rest on their laurels based on what they built last season...without any real acknowledgement that it's essentially a new show with new characters, a new location and a new dynamic. Then they went an exacerbated all of that by being the smartest guy in the room with their weird casting choices.

That's the look he gives every single time he's asked to look stern. He cocks his eyebrows and squints and just acts like he has no idea how to look serious. Ugh. Just go back to being a comedic genius dude. This shtein isn't working.

Agreed, but this one was particularly bad. It's like they kept rolling after 'Cut' and left the footage in. It got to the point where I was was asking, "What the farg is he doing?"

VV hasn't even been in anything good in a while...hes trying to escape the wedding crashers/old school thing with "leading man" roles and this confusing turn in a drama series as a gangster that he totally cannot pull off

has tim riggins started blowing dudes yet? yea his character is in the closet. another exciting plot right there.

I made some benign comment on Deadspin about the casting of VV and the fanboys are having butthurt all over. Hahahaha.

There's no way even VV himself could watch that back and think he's right for it in any way. Seeing it any other way would be flat-out delusional.
