The absolute worst thing they need is to challenge for a wildcard.  They need to fail spectacularly enough to purge everyone over 30 and rid themselves of Roob.  Nothing else is acceptable to me nor should it be to anyone who isn't a completely hopeless homer.

I'd be happy as shtein if they contended for a wildcard, that means they're at least interesting. If the old folks keep this up they suddenly become valuable and are maybe tradeable in the offseason. Of course, I'm also 100% for getting rid of them all at any point but if they're not going to trade them at least they can make the season interesting...which I don't think they will anyway.

im not so sure on that with the way he was playing before the streak. i mean what teams were trying to get him ?

either way it still ties to his performance. the better he plays the more another team will be willing to pay him out of their own pockets. there's some real interest now. they need to listen, take the best they can get, pay what the have to pay and move him.

both factor in but its way more about the contract.....he could be playing horribly but if he didnt cost any money or minimal money a team will always take a flyer on someone with his pedigree

These little spurts make it bearable.  I just want the rebuild to start already.  I can deal with the losing if there's winning somewhere in the future.

None of this matters if Amaro is still in charge, though.

thing is you cant have both...if they contend for a wc which is laughable but lets just say they do then they aren't going to trade anyone....you either jay it up and think they can contend or you blow it up....generally the value of any player much less older players decreases greatly in the offseason....you can maximize their value at the trade deadline...going into another offseason with all these guys would be a massive failure

of course, pretty sure the team knows that and accepted it already. his performance, or lack thereof, has been the holdup.

its nice, but its roughly a month.....he needs to be around this level in jewlie

anything they get for revere, choke or pap is gravy to me. they do it, great. they dont, whatever. i accepted those as lost causes years ago. its all about the hamels deal and it always has been.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

they need to move harang stat before that old farger comes back down to earth

agreed on getting what they can get for those guys. especially howard, thats why i say move him now if there's legit interest. i dont trust that he wont be back to being a strikeout mchine. if stark is right about a B level prospect, take it. he's only in the way at this point. move them all.

hamels is the key when it comes to having any realisitic return.

again though, smug.

I can have it both ways

I'm 100% for trading Harang/Hamels/Grit/Howard/Paps/Chooch/Revere and whoever else might be worth a damn. But they're probably not moving any of those players till the deadline because they'll get max value at that point unless someone comes along with an offer they can't refuse or another team suffers a major injury. If any of those players are worth shtein now by all means get rid of them, I just don't think a team is suddenly going to ante up because of a 2 week spurt. So it's win/win, if they can make it interesting and contend for a WC (I don't have my hopes up, I'm not J, I'm a realist, but lets play optimist here) then great. If not they hold a fire sale. I still don't see Reuben holding a fire sale.

Pretty sure he's on PEDs

But yeah move that farger asap, Stark said the teams he's talked to said he's their most tradeable commodity even over Hamels.

that makes sense....they cant get a ton for him because hes aaron harang, but essentially every contending team could use him except for the nats. everyone always needs pitching.

the only way theyre going to expedite the rebuild process and start a path toward Contention: 2017 is hitting on a hamels deal.
