Finale?  C+.  Was going to be like a C- until the last two minutes which quasi-redeemed it.  My immediate reaction after watching it wasn't great but I've warmed up to it the last hour.

MDS

if the last scene means what i initially thought it meant....C

if it means what twitter is saying....C-

some good individual character moments, some fitting conclusions, some shoehorned. the ending wasnt a cliffhanger or anything, but its something people are going to talk about forever.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Clever implication with the last scene.  Rest of the episode...meh.

Great ending, rest of episode like most of final season, B-
"Well where does Jack Lord live, or Don Ho?  That's got to be a nice neighborhood"  Jack Singer(Nicholas Cage) in Honeymoon in Vegas.

the further i get away from the mad men finale, the less i like it (except for the joan and rodger parts, those were fitting)

why did they end it when and where they did? how many times did don disappear and go hobo? like 5 times? so what made this act so important? this is the one where he realizes hes an ad man and he accepts it? ok.

then they quick cut to a famous commercial someone else did, but in this world don did it. jeez. this is the ending weiner wanted all along? it doesnt ruin 7 seasons of greatness, but it is not an ideal finishing point.

some parts of don's travels got slow and old....that race car shtein was just stupid...but overall I thought the ep did its job very well....it wasn't the shield but it was better than most

Don Ho

Well actually, that Coke commercial was really done by the ad agency McCann Erickson.  Thought that final scene was actually pretty cool.  Agree on Don's MIAs getting old and the race car shtein was lame.  Not sure what those dudes had to do with anything except giving Don a ride to LA.  A Midnight Cowboyesque bus ride to Santa Monica would have been cool.  Ben Crane sure got farged this last season.  Talk about MIA.

i was thinking of this earlier. after lettermen goes what's left in terms of tv institutions?

-the simpsons
-snl run by lorne michaels

thats pretty much it. 1 of those things was exceptional for about 7 years and has since been eroding into a disgraceful insult to its legacy. the other thing is more of launching pad for talent than it is a place of talent to actual flourish.

Harry Shearer Leaving 'The Simpsons'

Quote"The Simpsons" has lost one of its most recognizable voices. Harry Shearer, who voices Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders and Principal Skinner, is leaving Fox's animated series after 26 seasons.

He tweeted the news on Wednesday night.

"This because I wanted what we've always had: the freedom to do other work," he wrote.

The man. The myth. The legend.
