30 for 30 should be fine without simmons....really what they do is come up with ideas and then let filmmakers go do them. simmons isnt the guy holding that down. grantland is a different story. hes the EIC and the face and voice behind it. there will be a staff exodus because they all love him. i dont see espn getting rid of it, but it will be different.

im not sure what simmons is going to do, but i cant see him going with another major media outlet fulltime. i think he puts his writing somewhere independent, which leaves him room to work turner/nba and shop some tv ideas to hbo and netflix and what not.

I think this is a good thing. He's big enough to run his own deal. Although I do think this kills Grantland. Maybe they merge it with Whitlock's 'black Grantland' thing they can't get off the ground.

Also if he somehow ended up at Deadspin, some of the greatest web content of all time might be generated.

its definitely not a good thing...theres no better backing than espn behind you...but I think he can do good things at hbo...if he goes to fox or cbs sports then he basically disappears forever
