Garland them with timeless lilies!
Although they are a bunch of dillies
Who give honest men the willies-
We still love them for their sillies-
Hail, The Phillies.

Quote"Yeah, you should. You got the hammer," said Manuel, who grew up in baseball's pay-'em-peanuts era that lasted for almost a century. "Just make sure you use it. If you take some horsebleep deal and stay here, I'll never talk to you."

Manuel was dead serious, remembers Werth.

theres one more year of choke....we are near the end....no reason to bring that farg face in

one billion percent agree.  not so much because he's a hypocritical weak willed bitch ass christian (although that's a biggie), though.  they need to get rid of hideous contracts, not replace them with those that are equally bad or in hamilton's case, worse.

ice grillin you

j send me 65 bucks please....40 + fbb loot....I especially need that to pay the winner

On the way mañana!

I envisioned Grit going hard to tie it. Then realized he's the worst hitter in the majors right now.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I'm still +35 consider I jacked a bill from you :)

QB Eagles

Serious question: if a random member of this message board had been installed as Phillies GM back in 2011, would this team be in any worse condition than it is now?

Maybe they wouldn't be any better, and maybe they'd have Brett Myers signed to a 7 year contract, but I'm not sure they'd really be any worse.

I don't know I spent much of the offseason screaming at people who wanted to hang on and that it had to be blown up....seems like there were a lot of RAJ's on the board then

last year as much as i knew they would fail i could understand the homerism and even i bought in when the playoffs started...but this year can we please not act like they have a chance of winning the world series.....they are a buch of inury riddled senior citizens whose window has shut.....so stop discussing what they can or cant do to win it all next year

Utley had almost no pop in the last two months - a total of 3 HR since Aug. 1, and Howard's numbers remained nearly stagnant from last year, even though he missed more time.  More troubling is that Howard's slugging was below .500 for the first time in his career.  Without monstrous power, Howard sucks the life completely out of the lineup.  His injury could be a blessing in disguise, only if it spurs His Smugness to actually look for a bat during the offseason (I can't say I'm optimistic of Amaro spending money on a bat - they'll cry luxury tax).

One thing:  The proverbial window is definitely closing - how quickly will depend on the front office's actions this winter.  Without some aggressive moves, it could already be closed.
