I just hope they get the number one pick and theres an epic prospect at the top of the draft next summer...I don't care where in the system it is they need something in the organization to create some hope/excitement

They have to rid themselves of the hideous contracts and the dickface GM first.  Then hope Mark Zuckerberg or some other billionaire buys the fossils out who've driven this franchise into the rocks again.

one has nothing to do with the other but there is a light at the end of the tunnel with the deals...heidi definitely and hopefully GRIT get traded this year...lee has a buyout next year

and this will be paplebons last year

they are stuck with choke and chooch for another year

they have needed new owners for a million years....the current state of the franchise has nothing to do with the owners...it has to do with horrible scouting terrible contracts and just a general lack of knowledge in how to do a rebuild...they needed new owners in 2008 and they need them now but their current situation mostly has to do with all their good players getting old at the same time

the money, to me, isnt really important. they arent good enough to warrant spending money on important free agents and wont be for 2-3 years...by that time they wont be paying anyone. the only thing it helps is if there's some awesome cuban out there they can buy.

but anyway this year, you look at:

-asche: i think he's going to be a decent hitter. but franco is going to be the 3B and he needs to get going in LF yesterday. lets find out if he can hit enough and develop the required power to play that position.

-galvis: maybe. probably not. i dont see him working out here long term...they have too many better powerless bats. when things get real in 2017 or 2018 they are really not going to have lineup space for a .260 hitter who cant walk. he could become a decent utility guy/gypsy going from team to team to patch up SS here or 2B there for a half a season or so.

-od h: way too early but he's fun to watch so far. should start working in some 2B work with what quinn is doing in reading.

-giles: i fear he peaked last year. an arm blowout waiting to happen.

-franco: once he passes his service time threshold they need to call him up and let him go. we get it. he can hit minor league pitching. hes sucked in ST and in his cup of coffee last year. slow starter? sure. theres been at least 2 hall of famers that i think of (mays and sandberg) that blew in their first stretch of ML at bats. but hes not really gaining anything by playing in AAA anymore.

-jp: he's the only top level prospect they have. you god damn well hope he's jimmy II.

-quinn: co-worker of mine compared him to coco crisp. he can farging fly and has decent power. good arm. its only a week but his start at reading has given me a semi.

-the reading pitching staff: no cy young winners in there but some real decent chances to produce middle of the rotation starters. nola maybe can elevate to a 2. still missing that cy young-level horse. with harvey and fernandez in the division, they need to be able to have someone who can stand tall.

if youre going to concern yourself with the performances of sizemore, francore, utley, ruiz, howard, buchanan, etc. you are misguided and just wrong. it doesnt matter.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I care as much about them as I did when they were winning.  I don't watch as many games because why bother?  I'm basically boycotting them until Amaro is fired, but honestly, there's nothing remotely interesting about them now.  As least the dreadful teams in the late 90's had Rolen and Schilling to look forward to watching play.  This team is just totally bereft of talent and any sort of exciting guys.  Hell, they don't even have any scrappy beer leaguers to cheer for.

Like I said on the first page... straight garbage.

I'm not boycotting, at least not consciously, but there's just little of entertainment value with this team right now.  I'm much more entertained by the NHL and NBA playoffs, and would rather use my limited down time with that right now.

Once summer hits, where I have more time and fewer options, we'll see what happens.

I really like watching them lose when im getting free money from j

yes. exactly, actually. essentially between 2016 and 2019 they can really start going to crazy with cubans. they arent going to be good enough to spend money on FA, and their in house guys arent going to cost anything. its this perfect middle area to splurge on cubans and hope 1 is yasiel puig.

just because MAG sucks or tomas blows shouldnt deter them. but it will.

Geowhizzer

It isn't so much MAG or Tomas, but their coaching sucks and their scouting blows.  And RAJ swallows.

i know j is in because he was good in texas 5 years ago and thats his perfect storm.....but how about a choke for hamilton trade?

obviously they couldnt do it straight up. phils either need prospects or cash help coming back. but both are on the market and this is a perfect "Your problem for my problem" deal.
