Ish Smith said today that when he watches Joel Embiid, he sees him mastering guard moves that he's still trying to figure out himself.

According to ESPN's Basketball Power Index, the 76ers have a 17 percent chance to finish the season with one first-round selection, a 58 percent chance to finish with two, a 23 percent chance to finish with three and a 2 percent chance to finish with all four.

basketball-reference.com generates similar numbers.

I don't know how nerd numbers work but that just isnt right from a real world perspective

Pure math gives them a 17% chance of just getting the lakers pick forget the other two

Here are common sense odds

50% to get the heat pick

17% to get the laker pick

0% chance at the thunder pick

ESPN is saying that there is a 17% chance of the Sixers only having their own pick, not only one pick among the remaining three.

The reference site breaks it down to:

20.2% chance to get Lakers
76.7% chance to get Heat
10.2% chance to get Thunder

These are based on simulations. I would revise them a little lower because the computer simulations don't take a team intentionally throwing games to preserve draft picks into account.

Oh I see they did it backwards...which is kind of silly....who cares what the chances are at getting just their own pick...all anyone cares about is what the chances are at getting the other teams picks

Btw 10% at the Thunder puck is incredibly generous....that pick is all but gone

QuoteMichael Carter-Williams

The Bucks acquired Carter-Williams in February. Why? Scholars remain unsure. It's easy to argue that Carter-Williams is the least efficient volume shooter playing in the NBA. Consider these two facts:

• Carter-Williams is the only player to take at least 200 midrange shots and make fewer than 30 percent of them.

• Of the 202 NBA players who have attempted at least 100 3s, Carter-Williams ranks 200th in field goal percentage.

In other words, he's not quite Mark Price.

The Bucks hope that Jason Kidd, who knows a thing or two about fixing a crooked jumper, can inspire the Carter-Williams reconstruction project. While there's little doubt that improvements are possible, the current state is quite bleak: Jump-shooting guards have never been more important in the NBA, and Carter-Williams is a horrid shooter from virtually every spot on the floor.

If you're wondering why the odds of the Lakers went up slightly after losing to the Clippers, the reasons are boring. Suffice it to say that the loss didn't matter very much.

Guys guys. Common sense math trumps math math 9 times out of five.

Math.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

VORP math isn't real math and either is most sports math

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Well when they post stuff straight off the net it's not hard to decipher...plus QB has never been an nba fan....he's a Pittsburgh dood who wants the sixers to do well...which honestly is better than most of you

Casual NBA fan. I much prefer the NBA to CBB but only occasionally watch non-Sixers games. I've been watching the ends of close games that affect the Sixers draft. NFL obsessive way ahead of everything else. Even this time of year I'm paying more attention to the NFL than the other three leagues combined.

Not a "Pittsburgh dood" much longer, will probably be in Rip City before the end of the year. Can't say I ever felt like much of a Pittsburgher since the yinzers are very parochial and it's clear to them I'm not from here originally.
