gross david bowie died??
didn't he just come out with an awful new album
It was released two days before his death. There's a quote from Tony Visconti - his producer - on his wiki page:
QuoteHe always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life – a work of Art. He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasn't, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life. He will always be with us. For now, it is appropriate to cry.
Wasn't a big fan but the song fame is a great tune.
Wouldn't say I'm a die hard fan of his by any means, but I dig a lot of his music.
he was an atrocity as are most brits when it comes to music

And despite almost rejecting "Die Hard," he said, the progressive storyline won him over.
"Every single black character in that film is positive and highly intelligent," he said. "So, 28 years ago, that's quite revolutionary, and quietly so."
If only he was that careful with all of the other schlock he's worked in.

I was just wondering if Obama will be able to appoint a replacement or if the repubs can stall it long enough to get past January.

EDIT: When looking it up, I was only 7 when it started and 10 when it ended.
It was part of the heyday of CBS dramas in the late 70's and early 80's. Realism was a big thing then and it was basically a sanitized version of how poor kids from South Central lived. None of you know this guy but one of my best friends died last night. He went to Nova (class of 83) and we watched the game together the other night. Truly one of the nicest guys I've ever met. A class act in every way. Toward the end of the game he was sitting there with tears in his eyes. He wasn't the sort of dude that would cry a lot, ya know? He was a typically gruff Philly guy with sense of humor that could cut glass. But he was emotional about Nova winning and didn't mind showing it.
After the game I gave him shtein because he hadn't been playing golf much with me lately. He was in the midst of opening a new restaurant/bar nearby and hadn't had much time to do much of anything except that. We had set plans to play this Sunday.
Anyway, sorry to go on about this but this guy was a die hard Philly fan in the best sense.

Can't say I've watched more than 2-3 episodes. Wasn't my thing, and I don't watch much TV anyway other than sports.
A TV show about a married couple that hates each other with in-laws prying into their business and making them hate each other more? Hilarious! Americans watched, and liked, that tripe which led directly to Donald Trump being a presidential candidate. Fact.
I just bought a the house next to my mother. I will move my family into it. We have all agreed it's not going to be "Everybody Loves Dio."
False.
It's going to be "Everybody loves Dio."
I'm speechless. Why would any grown person ever do that?
I like my family? It will make raising children and lowering old people easier on everyone? The house is cheaper than my other one, which is located in a good rental market, so the expensive house will pay for itself.
Grown person reasons.
It's that first one that I can't wrap my head around.

One thing that Prince did which sets him apart (and above) a lot of other folks is that, almost the minute he gained some status, he started playing king-maker. He pulled other artists up, became their advocate, shoved them into the spotlight. I think he considered it his duty to pull others up with him, and I admire him for it.

3:28 mark on. Prince was an unreal guitarist.
Chyna
Prince was supremely talented. And this year has sucked for musicians. No one's going to survive it but Keith Richards.
That clip from SD has a pretty cool back story. Rolling Stone magazine had just published a list of the best 100 guitarists of all time, and omitted Prince. The publisher/founder of Rolling Stone Jann Werner was being inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame for which this show was put together.

Lynne is the guy with the beard and shades. The guy with the newsboy cap is Marc Mann, who has a lot of connections to both Lynne and Harrison.
Mann can play a sweet lick, too. Thanks.

well I agree he recoded more than ten songs in his career but the great ones can be counted on less than one hand
raspberry beret and little red corvette for example are pop songs but are pretty awful...and arguably straight up cheesy....to me prince will always be known way more as a talented musical composer but not a great song maker....he deserved much props for his writing and instrumentation but not for being an all time great song maker
nothing compares 2 u is phenomenal when doves cry and purple rain are great pop songs...after that it becomes slim pickins for him as far as great tracks

Anyone who says that Kanye sucks has never listened to his music. The man is a genius and despite his public behavior has written some of the most introspective shtein in the history of hiphop while laying it over ridiculously catchy beats. Remove your hatred of his persona and listen to his work. The shtein is exceptional.
None of that makes him the musical legend that Prince is. You don't even have to like Prince's songs to recognize his expansive and lasting influence.
Kanye has changed shaped hiphop at a time when the entire genre had lost its way, which is fine. Prince changed and shaped music and the culture at large, which is why he's a legend.

Kanye has changed shaped hiphop at a time when the entire genre had lost its way, which is fine. Prince changed and shaped music and the culture at large, which is why he's a legend.
i agree with all of a that and its a very good way to put it
my thing with prince is that and of course all music is mostly subjective is that his lyrical and song making talent did not equate to his musical talent....i totally respect the guy for writing everything he did both lyrics and especially his music...knowing how to playing 25 different instruments ect is pretty awesome when lots of pop singers cant play any
that said I just don't think his actual songs came close to matching his talent...again this is all opinion but a lot of his best songs were pretty awful....party like its 1999....little red corvette??...come on dooks that shtein is garbage
:-D
this is still going on.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=b7nw6anYOQo
prince was a musician mike was a hit maker....good comparison to what I was saying tho...if you ask me who was more talented then it obviously was prince...if you ask me who made more and better songs it was mike by miles...shtein id rather listen to Madonna over prince
funny you posted rock to as his all time favorite hip-hop album is dark twisted fantasy....insane opinion but again theres no accounting for taste
the GREAT howard garfinkel
he's so great, you have to type out his entire name before Google knows who the farg he is
Did you type out "the GREAT" as well? It matters.

And I forgot to mention that the funeral I attended was a southern baptist affair. By that I mean a solid hour of bible thumping straight out Alabama. The luckiest guy at that service was horizontal.
My buddy's ex-wife took herself out this morning. She was a hopeless junky and now he's going to have to raise two girls, ages 4 & 5 by himself.
Honestly, they're better off because she was the kind to take them with her.
Dude, that's probably the best thing could happen. Her suffering is over. Her ability to hurt others, gone. His fear for the well being of his daughters on her account, gone. No chance she's going to argue for custody after 6 months clean. Etc.
Now he puts on the big boy undies and raises two girls on his own. Lucky guy, in a way. Great ages, good luck to him.

Usually I see self-termination as the ultimate act of selfishness. But in this case, it's almost a gift. It's sad that the situation is like that, and that the kids will have to come to grips with it, but hopefully they will all be stronger people as a result.
I have to admit, GF, I like what you've done with this place.

I think you can blame Dio for that one.

Great man and a better rapper than Kanye.
can someone change the title to Alive Kayne...its so annoying
In that case..nope.
If Kanye dies tho, might change to Dead Prince >>>Dead Kanye
right now its saying kayne's albums are >>> dead prince but his concerts arent
Live Kanye is pretty terrible, though.

His vehicle had recently been recalled for an issue that seems relevant to the story as reported. Car is in neutral when you think it's in park.
Hopefully that's what it was, because the alternative explanation for being crushed by one's own rolling car is being an idiot.

Ron Glass also had played Felix Unger (the clean prissy one) in a remake of The Odd Couple in the 80's. The son Lamont from Sanford and Son played Oscar, the sportswriter dude who was a slob. Show bombed.
