the guy was on MJ's talent level. probably higher because he was awesome on the axe. just minus all the playing farmer in the dell with kids.

One thing that Prince did which sets him apart (and above) a lot of other folks is that, almost the minute he gained some status, he started playing king-maker.  He pulled other artists up, became their advocate, shoved them into the spotlight.  I think he considered it his duty to pull others up with him, and I admire him for it.

Prince was supremely talented.  And this year has sucked for musicians.  No one's going to survive it but Keith Richards.

That clip from SD has a pretty cool back story.  Rolling Stone magazine had just published a list of the best 100 guitarists of all time, and omitted Prince.  The publisher/founder of Rolling Stone Jann Werner was being inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame for which this show was put together.
