Things are going too good. Eagles are in 1st place all by themselves by 1 game... 99% chance they'd be up by 2 in the division and they also can possibly clinch a playoff spot with a win. A 6-7 team coming cross-country to play them in the one game for shtein talking purposes I can't afford for them to lose. I don't like it.
They should win the game... but I've been on this ride before.

this is so similar to the game in 93 we were all talking about the other day where sf won in OT in week 16 that should have cost the eagles home field but st louis gagged against detroit the next week...hopefully if the eagles lose this game dallas and giants lose this week...both of which are distinct possibilities

Weren't the Niners out of the playoff race in 03 when they won in OT? That game still pisses me off. Was that not the unveiling of the black jerseys?
i thought it was the black jersey debut as well but after a little investigating i found out they actually debuted them against the giants earlier that season
have i mentioned that i hate the black jerseys?
I think that game was the first time they did black jersey/green pants, which is still a horrible look.
black jerseys with black pants might be kinda hott.....cant be any worse than their regular green/teal/blue jerseys

How'd the Phillies steal the show? By giving up a dominant post-season pitcher for a guy who hasn't ever pitched in the playoffs? Don't get me wrong Halladay is great, but it's a lateral move.
it's still a national story and getting much more attention than the eagles after their biggest win of the season. not to mention that baseball is supposed to be completely irrelevant in december and now it's stealing the eagles thunder
If Bannor and co. could actually win in Feb, maybe the town wouldn't spend so much time obsessing about the Phillies in Dec.

that's the thing though....if you go back as little as 4 years ago, the phils were barely on the radar in sept when football season started. then the phils had a crazy september run in 07 that stole attention and ratings. then you have them winning it all in 08 and getting back to the ws again this year and hogging all the glory until november. so when the season finally ended you know banner had to figure that at least december still belonged to him and the eagles. oops.

I can see an epic failure this week. It's bound to happen this time of year(taterskins late last year). Reid has been running a fairly balanced offense for past 3-4 weeks with last week the offense hitting its peak. His trigger finger is getting itchy, I see Reid throwing 80% of the plays Sunday in the snow. Multiple 3 and outs. 49er's just play fundamental football and win by 3.
I just want to see how this weather ends up. Short week for the niners, blew their load at home on MNF, and the weather is gonna be a factor whether its just cold. They also have to get into philly and i'm wondering if they're traveling today to avoid tomorrow
the eagles have been known for strong finishes for a decade now and are 23-6 in december when they have a winning record under reid but they are due for a letdown because they lost to the skins lasy year?

It's definitely a trap game. Looking ahead to Christmas and Dawkins next week and they're facing a sub-.500 team from out west, knowing a loss doesn't affect their playoff hopes anyway if Dallas loses too.
for the one millionth time theres no such thing as a trap game
theres games you should win and theres games you shouldnt win
basically trap is a fancy word for upset
This is where all that blather about the OLine finally getting their "groove" gets a test. The 9'ers beat down the cruds line and turned grocery stock-boy into a statue. (both warner and rothliburger look like dolts lately standing and taking sacks - scrambled brains?)
If they can get that same pressure on Donny and Reid goes pass wild in crappy weather it will be a bad day. Sack pressure early from just the D-line will be telling. Andy will want a big-play Q-1 jump to throw them off their game - if he can do it great, if not the 9'ers hang around to the end and we get to see if the Eagles can close another game out late. But I agree with above, Cap'n Andy is just itching to call a pass fest and will think this weekend is the one.
All remaining games are important to the team so they won't be asleep. Last 3 could mean whether they play an east rematch or the packers WC weekend and I don't think they want to play the fudgie packers even if its at the linc. In this string mebbe they lose to the Donkeys. Eagles 27, Whiners 24

This team is due for a bad game, plain and simple. San Fran is a bunch of young guys looking to impress a new coach and they play hard. Even if the Eagles win, which they should, I wouldn't bet on them to cover the spread. Hope I'm wrong.
There is no excuse for losing this game, an automatic playoff birth is on the line. If you can't get up for that you don't belong in the NFL.

QuotePHILADELPHIA - The Eagles think they've finally found a resolution to their season-long problem of covering tight ends, or they're just willing to try anything at this point.
With the arrival of San Francisco's Vernon Davis this weekend - he of the NFL-best 11 touchdown catches - the Eagles are giving rookie Moise Fokou some snaps at strong-side linebacker, the position manned almost exclusively by Chris Gocong for most of the past three seasons.
Gocong over time has developed into an adequate run stopper and someone who understands his role, is rarely caught out of position and rarely penalized but coverage isn't his strongest suit. A coverted college defensive end, he's also never become a signifcant piece of the team's nickel, pass-rushing package.
And so it appears the team will give Fokou, a seventh-round pick out of Maryland, some opportunities to solidify this weakness of the defense. Fokou started against Dallas on Nov. 8 when Gocong missed the game from leg injuries.
"I'll gladly take the opportunity," said Fokou, who played the SAM for another week after Gocong returned to play middle linebacker against San Diego, one of the many LB combos conjured by defensive coordinator Sean McDermott this season to compensate for the season losses of Stew Bradley and Omar Gaither and injuries to Gocong and Akeem Jordan.
Reid mentioned today that Fokou could play elsewhere among the trio and that there could be scenarios where Fokou and Gocong were on the field at the same time.
One advantage Fokou noted is his college pedigree. He was a freshman at Maryland during Davis' senior year. Davis parlayed his senior season and eye-popping combine numbers into becoming the sixth overall pick in the 2006 draft.
The two have texted back and forth recently.
"I'm sure I'm going to talk to him again soon," Fokou said.
No chance they lose this game. none.

Um, how does Dallas win out if the Eagles beat Dallas?
Sorry about that. This is what I meant...
If the Eagles lose to SF & Denver but beat Dallas they're 10-6. If Dallas wins the next game then loses to Philly they're 10-6. The last I saw the tie-breakers Dallas would win the division if they ended up tied with the Eagles.
Not completely sure how the tiebreakers work, but they'd be 1-1 heads up, and the Eagles would be 5-1 in the division while the Cowboys would be 4-2, which I'm pretty sure comes after heads up.
Pretty sure the Eagles win the division if they beat Dallas, no matter what else happens. They'll own division record tiebreakers over the Cowboys and Giants, and they can't end up with fewer wins unless they lose to Dallas.

Alex Smith gets back to form. Eagles lead the NFL in picks, and they get at least two more today. Birds make it much closer than they should, but they get the W.
24-16
:paranoid
If Alex Smith can beat the birds than I'm going to actually start watching Sixers games again.
And now we know how far you have to throw the ball to overthrow Jackson.
Soooooooooo close. boooooo
WTF?
Flag? farg farg farg farg farg farg farg
Are we watching a pre-season game? farging miscues.
BOO this shtein.

15 yard run just called back. Tackling is as bad as McNabb's arm.
Tracy White, BEAST.
Now i'm reaching.
farging BEAST Weazy!
Weaver slowly making up for his first half fargup.
Atta boy McCoy! Nice job.
Running the ball in the redzone maybe this coaching staff is starting to get it.
farg you Singletary. Save the Gruden bullshtein act for another week.
Singletary is losing it on the sideline now.
You could tell DJack was pissed not scoring on that play and breaking the record. I thought he was going to break it.

They're trying to trick you
Clemons? I forgot he was on the team.
Well that was a jaw-dropping deflection and catch by Cheggie.
The flying snowball may have been the best throw all game.
Here come the one hop passes.
I hope they keep handing it to Weaver to finish this game off.
me: wtf happened?
my boy: reality
ggs
GG but it shouldn't even have been close. McCoy was averaging 5 yards a pop but Weaver got all the (few) carries? Not sure about that one.
SD got tossed from the game for throwing snowballs at the Niners bench.

makes me proud
makes me sad that i wasn't there.
36 passes to 33 rushes. Dmac was off in this game going 21 for 36 with 301 yards, 1 td and two real bad int's. Those passes on the 2 int's were terrible. At least they still got the W even with their franchise qb having an off day.
Don't look now but the Eagles are close to being a game out of a first round bye :paranoid

If the teams both end up with 12 wins (meaning the Vikings drop one in Week 16 or 17 and the Birds win out), the Eagles would own that tiebreaker too. The Vikings have the Bears and Giants left.
Assuming that some pill-popping attention whore doesn't engineer a miracle comeback here.
Well that's that. Win out and hope the bears or giants help out.
how god awful is the nfl this year. if the eagles can avoid the saints and colts they could easily win the title. or they will lose their next 3 games. what a terrible year.
There are only 12 teams under .500
Maybe the Eagles just aren't as bad as we thought/showing their true talent now that the coaching has been improved the last 5 weeks.
According to NFL.com they have the 2nd most points scored in the NFL...ahead of the Colts :sly
wow, Witherspoon talks more white than i ever could. Dude sounds like Dave Chapelle when he was putting on whiteface.
farg! i dont know what to think....this was the game to really show some progress. To REALLY make a statement. We had WAY more on the line and were completely outclassed. I have been pissin in the urinal with my pants around my ankles all night in tribute to our epic fail of teh football squad un-l33tz
If it makes you feel better, the 9ers will probably come back strong next year, win the division, and knock the Eagles out of the playoffs in the NFCCG.

right on...is that how you guys get over it year after year? <3
dvr'd the game yesterday because i had to drive to vegas to pick my kids up at the airport and watched it when we got home. was one of those games that had some big plays for the eagles on both sides of the ball, but missed some big opportunities on both sides as well. basically, they let the 9ers hang around in a game that they really had no business being in.
mcnabb's 2 ints were terrible but he was really moving well, especially once he got outside the pocket. i thought he was going to get caught from behind from behind on that td rub but he was barely able to stretch the ball over the goal line. he also looked good on the 27 yd run that got called back on a hold.
i figure that since vernon davis didn't have a huge day, fokou and the rest of the linebackers must have done a decent job in coverage.
mikell's int was filthy.
weaver had a huge brain fart getting into a pissing contest with a niners player at the end of the half. easily cost them a shot at the endzone.
desean jackson is farging rediculous. farg the probowl, kid should at least be in the discussion for mvp. where would the eagles be without him?
asante samuel sucks at tackling.
lol @ josh morgan for hurdling himself into chris clemons on a kick return in the 2nd half.
Asante flattened Morgan after he whiffed earlier.
he'll probably get a fine for blow to the head

and that's all well and good except that the whiff still cost them 3 points as it extended a drive and got them into fg range.
that's what he is though. athletic playmaker who can't tackle.....somewhere between bobby taylor and deion sanders.
Another balanced offensive attack. Marty obviously calling the plays. McNabbs INT's were dumb. He is mediocre QB when it comes to looking at all the receivers and checking down. Other than accuracy(worm burners and hitting receivers in stride) I'd say that's his weakest attribute as a QB.

yes and no, he loves to hit with his helmet head to head. Look at the Jaguar he killed in preseason
Muss you do realize that Marty has called the plays all season? I have heard them talk about it multiple times on DNL all season long.

Awesome
the Andy Reid that comes out in December is much more fun. Last year he said farg it and started growing a beard, now he's dropping shoulders into opposing players, and bitching out refs.
Andy just gained some of my respect back with that. :-D
