QuoteNFL linebacker cited for disobeying officer
By SUSAN ANASAGASTI
sanasagasti@MiamiHerald.com
Dhani Makalani Jones, a starting linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles, was arrested early Sunday for failing to obey a police officer who ordered him to stop dancing on a street in South Beach, police said.
Police responding to a call in the 1400 block of Washington Avenue at 2:51 a.m. found Jones dancing with a female in front of the trendy Snatch Rock 'n' Roll Bar & Lounge, Miami Beach police spokesman Robert Hernandez said Monday.
Police said Jones was obstructing traffic in the northbound lanes, and officers ordered him to get off the street. He refused and was arrested at the scene.
Jones was taken to the station and was ''very apologetic,'' police said. The 28-year-old linebacker signed an affidavit with a promise to appear in court for arraignment.
According to the Philadelphia Eagles website, Jones ranked second among linebackers in the National Football League with 105 tackles in 2005. In June, he was named one of People Magazine's ``50 Hottest Bachelors.''
Good news for Eagles fans. We all know how much Andy hates bad characters off the field.

looks like he's prepping to take his show on the road...after his Eagles career
Look, sometimes douchebags do douchebaggy things, OK? Lets not make a big deal out of this. A simple public stoning should take care of this in a manner that will benefit everyone involved.
A simple roster cutting would solve this. Treat him like the criminal he is and cut his ass!
Players Arrested '06 :yay

failure to stop dancing?
jeezus christ, he's a puss...get him the hell off the team already....the goddamn fairy.
He was probably doing his stupid Air Guitar and the Police arrested him out of stupidity.

Everytime I read Dhani's name I think of drunkmaster telling us about Bowtie flipping him the finger in the subway last year because DMF was checkin out Dhani's girl. :-D

Officer:"Jones Im not gonna tell ya again....get off the streets and put the air guitar down!"
Jones: "Last night a little dancer, came dancin to my door........"
Officer: "Jones....Jones....thats it your under arrest!"
Jones: "In the rebel yell....!!"
"Jones Im not gonna tell ya again....get off the streets and put the air guitar down!"

I could only hope he was dancing to Bing Crosby's version.
Actually, the dancing was just an excuse for the cops to arrest him for the money he's been stealing the last 2 years.
im quite sure they arrested him cause he was dancing like something close to this...

It's not unusual to be loved by anyone
It's not unusual to have fun with anyone
but when I see you hanging about with anyone
It's not unusual to see me cry,
oh I wanna' die
It's not unusual to go out at any time
but when I see you out and about it's such a crime
if you should ever want to be loved by anyone,
It's not unusual it happens every day no matter what you say
you find it happens all the time
love will never do what you want it to
why can't this crazy love be mine
It's not unusual, to be mad with anyone
It's not unusual, to be sad with anyone
but if I ever find that you've changed at anytime
it's not unusual to find out that I'm in love with you

I can't stand this guy. Makes himself out to be special everywhere he goes. Can't say his name and school straight on MNF. Celebrates like it's 1999 everytime me makes a goddamned tackle.
This will weaken him in Philadelphia and that's great news.
affidavits suck.. they could've kept him forever, and had no one play SLB at all. it would be a nice upgrade.
He could always go to court and tell them there was a medical explanation for his actions. He was diagnosed with boogie fever and ordered by his doctor to listen to the Carpenters and Anne Murray whenever he got the urge to dance, but he slacked off. (http://boards.buffalobills.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/airguitar.gif)
Look at it this way. At least he didn't urinate in public and then receive a contract extension less than a year later. :-\
We only wish he urinated in public. That's a more entertaining drunk story than dancing in the streets of Miami.

I could be able to handle all the "ooh, I'm such a personality" bullshtein if the guy could play football. I'd still think he was a prick, but at least he could play football. Sadly "Mr. Jones" is as crap a linebacker as he is annoying a person.

It's almost getting to the point where they must jettison Dhani. Trotter, Douglas, and even Spadaro have been dogging him (deservedly so) publicly, and now this latest idiocy only makes it more likely.
Get Hillenmeyer.
Hugh always came across as a naturally witty and engaging character. Dhani's personality is so contrived and based on image it's sickmaking.

Hmmm - unfortunate, but typical of
this board - that the person who would dignify the response of this creep calling me "bitch" is a female herself (or at least advertised as such). I guess you have exempt status in these creep chauvinists' eyes - you're
sooo lucky. ^-^
While I'm busy acknowledging vermin (meaning
Diomedes - somehow I still consider Phillygirl a notch or two above "vermin" despite her "shortcomings"...such as her "mysterious" gymnastics career) - I
am doing my own research - when you look at it from the perspective of someone who actually has a life and thoughts
outside of the internet and this damn board. Asking a question on a messageboard (a pest-
infested messageboard - but something of a messageboard nonetheless) IS research, but I can see how it might not be to you since you have the perspective of a rat crawling around on this board 24/7. Pass the poison. :poison
Oh, and it's telling that "bitch" is the only "curse word" that is spelled right on this God-forsaking board, isn't it? ::)
Btw, to set the record straight - Hugh Douglas is a narrow-minded &%$#(@. So first Donovan is not a "real" leader because he's not some loud street-thug who gets in people's faces, and now Dhani is unlikable because he "tries too hard to be different". Umm, Hugh - in this world where it is so easy to get sucked into being some standard prototype just to "fit in" and get approval - someone
does, techincally-speaking, have to "try hard" just to find their
own identity and to be their
own person. It is a
fight to be true to yourself and to get in touch with the
real you outside the pressures and expectations of society. Especially in a world full of people who think the only way a black person is supposed to be is some prototype out of The Source or Vibe magazines. (and no, it's not the necessarily the white man who is expecting us to conform to these stereotypes, either - it's folks like
you.)

Eat it. Eat it good.
I read this on ESPN Insider (not posting complete article here) on the Eagles' needs:
QuoteStrongside linebacker: Philadelphia did well to re-sign Shawn Barber. Although Barber has sustained two season-ending knee injuries and there are concerns about his ability to stay healthy, he is a leader on the field and knows this scheme. Philadelphia also has an insurance policy in Matt McCoy. The raw McCoy has the talent to push Barber for playing time if his technique progresses. However, neither is a good fit for the strong side because they have problems anchoring against the run. That's a concern because Dhani Jones has been inconsistent and he isn't making many big plays. Mark Simoneau provides some depth, but he too struggles when teams run at him. The Eagles need a strongside linebacker who has a nose for the ball, the power to control the point of attack and the burst to prevent backs from turning the corner.
HA.
'point of attack' is ok...because unlike 'reach' or 'trap game' it is an actual real thing
