Wonder who Newsome puts up for her spot

The party honchos want Adam Schiff in that spot, but Newsom has said repeatedly that he would appoint a black woman if a spot opened up. Barbara Lee is a black woman who was already running for the seat in 2024, but is unacceptable to the party honchos, and they don't want to give her a head start on '24 by making her the incumbent.

So the smart money is on Newsom putting in some placeholder black lady who will vote along with whatever Schumer wants, and promises to not run for reelection so that the way is cleared next year for the party's boy.

There will always be elections.  It's just a matter of whether they are free and fair, and if you get a visit in the night after voting a certain way...In Russia, Putin wins every election, but they do have them.
