I just got an email that Houston Methodist, the hospital I go to, has their first case of the lambda variant. To go along with the delta. Lambda is the South American one that originated in Peru.

Hospitalizations have increased 70% over the last week there.

I had a bit of bellyaching from my staff yesterday.  I took everyone outside for a field trip and explained two things.

First... masks are now mandatory in the office.  No one likes it but any further discussion about it is pointless and counterproductive.

Second... if I hear of anyone complaining about the directive I will stop you in your tracks and have you speak directly with our big boss about it.  No second chances either.  You bitch or create an issue for me you're going in front of the man.

I'm done with grown ass adults crying like children.  Either comply or get the farg out. I also told them I couldn't care less what they do after 5:00PM. 

I then told them I'm taking the rest of the week off because if that sort of thing annoys me as a manager, it's time for a mini-vacay for this middle management-governmental functionary/tyrant.

This is true. I saw a poll last month that north of 20% of healthcare workers are not vaccinated. One of the smartest people I know is a doctor and didn't get vaccinated until a few weeks ago.

One of my customers today told me his brother, who is a doc in Michigan, refuses to get vaccinated.
