Unfortunately, in Covid hot spots, now some vaccinated patients don't have the freedom to have surgeries, or even get an ICU bed when they are critically ill, because those beds are already being consumed by the massive influx of Covid patients. For some reason we don't see those statistics - the colaterral damage and deaths caused by inadequate resources available because of their allocation given instead to Covid patients.

I just had to take my mom to the hospital last week.  Essentially had to keep her in the ER area for 24+ hours as there were no beds available in the entire hospital.

That sucks. Hope she's ok now, Matty. There have been regions where hospitals are saturated with no beds available including the ER, and sick patients got stuck having to wait in the ambulance for a number of hours until the hospital can discharge someone to create a bed (sometimes before they are really ready to go home). Ambulances aren't meant for that so it's to the detriment of the patient, but also that rig is taken out of service and can't go get others, like someone having an MI.

got our first positive (Baltimore City elementary middle school w/ approx. 800 kids) today, a fourth grader.
