not sure how to explain baseball to you, but for a sloth who cant play defense? yes.

an OBP north of 380 or something, ok, you can single and walk all you want. thats real value. but thats not realistic. rhys needs to hit for power. he is not contributing if hes not generating extra base hits. he cant play defense. he doesnt even play a premium position. he cant go 1st to 3rd or 2nd to home. he gives you nothing except for power and plate discipline. hitting 30+ homers with a .350 obp is valuable. he needs to be doing those things, at the same time. not this power one month, walking a lot the next crap. if not, hey, japan is a beautiful country.

I don't care how it shakes out. If the other guys would hit and make contact then his walks and singles would be good right? And then he'd have his months with power. He does t have to be a 40hr guy IMO

that doesnt make any sense. you dont judge players by what other players do. value is not conditional.

and again, rhys is a sloth. him getting on base 36% with the slug of roman quinn doesnt accomplish anything. he cannot run like roman quinn. he cannot run like anthony quinn. as a first baseman with a terrible glove and cement feet, he does actually need be a 35 homer guy, yes.

other players who can run or field better might not have the same higher level offensive requirements that rhys does. but having strong plate discipline/power is the only way he remains a viable ML player. otherwise hes a platoon guy or in japan.
