gelb had a good breakdown on him today

the most likely scenario is he stinks and they have to offer him back...best case is he is intriguing enough that a second division team takes a shot on him and they get back a controllable prospect, or he blows out his arm and they can stash him for the year

i cant see how he can pitch at the ML level.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

SD

I already hate the pitch timer

Not sure why there's such a rush to speed up baseball. Sports been around 150 years...speeding it up doesn't improve the game.

its basically hockey at this point...popular in a few markets but not attracting new fans no matter what they change...but i have to say they made the best rule change maybe in the history of any sport getting rid of the shift....but again that is not bringing in a single new fan
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

SD

Agreed on the shift probably my favorite rule change in any sport ever

MDS

baseball has been hockey for decades...its very popular in market but for example once the phillies are out nobody in philly cares and is going to consume tigers/marlins content. theres really no rule you can add to all of a sudden make baseball popular like that.

the pitch timer just feels unnatural to me. i agree i love the shift

Way early but I kinda like the pitch timer but I need more time to see it

But love banning the shifts

Munson

Pitch timer sucks, but only because it's too short imo. Feels incredibly rushed. I know the data was good on the minors in terms of not causing changes to the game/injuries but I will be curious to see if a 30 year old arm with a ton of mileage can keep going at that pace for 6-7 innings, vs. 19 year old minor leaguers throwing 3-4 innings.

I too love the shift rule and hope the bigger bases bring back some steals

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

QB Eagles

I'm in favor of the pitch clock, which only reduces the time between pitches to what it was in the 80s and 90s. Bob Feller was able to throw extreme heat for a billion complete games in the old days when time between pitches was even shorter than that, so color me skeptical that modern pitchers can't handle getting back into a 1980s groove.

ice grillin you

no one cares how long baseball is
shortening the game by seven and a half minutes will not change a single persons life in even the tiniest way
its supposed to be farging long

the people who complain about how long baseball games are dont actually like baseball...its a dumb twitter fight thing where idiots yell about which hobby is their favoritest and how my preferred hobby is superior to yours

the clock is probably a little too tight...maybe add 3/5 seconds on each end so it cuts down on egregious delays between pitches but wont ever result in a violation. though really banning the shift and encouraging more balls in play will shorten ABs and cover time of game right there

Don Ho

I love the Philies but can't remember watching much spring trainging games in the past, have to admit I watched the entire opening game with Yankees, Sunday's game vs Minnesota and Pirates game yesterday.  Entire games!  Helped get my mind of that disasterous 30 minutes in the desert two weeks ago.

I'd watch it as background when I lived in PA. But now if they happen to be on MLB Network (which YouTube TV doesn't carry and Teevee Todd says I shouldn't worry about) and I'm home I'll watch

MDS

all ST games are on mlbtv and if you love mlbn so much find a distributor that has it...its quite literally the most useless network in existence but this is america man
