even if jt isnt a rental its still a horrendous trade

eh jt is far and away the best catcher in baseball and at the time sixto was a high ceiling prospect in A ball. the mistake was not signing JT immediately to an extension. that this has drug out to the point now where they will have to bid for him against a lunatic billionaire looking to make a splash is some pretty high levels of incompetence.

there was a chance sixto would do what hes doing. there was also a chance his arm would fall off or that he would turn out to be a closer. i dont begrudge the risk. i begrudge not locking him up immediately.

if you didnt want them to trade for jt then they never shouldve signed bryce, they shouldve traded nola and therefore would be going a full tear down/rebuild for like 10 years

I would have never signed Bryce but not cause I want them to tank because it was stupid...not as stupid as JT cause he was young and you didn't have to give up anything but because he's not getting them anywhere and brought them to the tax limit...they wont sign JT cause they signed Bryce

bottom line is there is no point in acquiring anyone for the that much money if you don't have the existing talent to supplement cause you are still going to suck bit now you can't do anything else
