I wear stove top hats to synagogue.
You should see if they'll let you in with a pork pie hat. I even heard of a guy that wore an arab headdress to synagogue.
But I think that was jus turban legend.

Kelly was arrogant, stubborn and refused to build relationships inside the organization.  He acted from the start like he'd made a terrible mistake in leaving Oregon and spent next three years doing everything in his power to get fired.

Say what you will about this goober but he's affable as hell and he doesn't seem to mind adapting to succeed.  I mean he's run the ball enough to make Vince Lombardi blush the last three weeks.

Did anyone here ever expect that?  I didn't.

I also think he's a dope and he's lucked out with the schedule so far but he's gotten this group to respond to him.   I didn't expect that either.

eh not really. common misconception about chip. he loved the nfl. he loved not recruiting and not having to placate to teenagers. theres he reason he jumped right to the 49ers and why he didnt take any college jobs. he also loved himself, his ego and his stupid playbook full of 5 plays.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I thought Kelly was legit smart and would adjust when the league adjusted, and he just...didn't.
There was no door number 2 with kelly, which sort of shocked me.

I don't think Pederson is smart.   I don't even know that I'd describe him as affable ... more like generic dude you'd find in a cubicle who you'd shrug at if he wanted to grab a drink and watch the game with you.

That being said, none of that really matters if he a) has a competent D coordinator who he lets run the defense (which he does) and b) can call plays on offense.

I will say the one thing I LIKE about Pederson is he's aggressive.  Obviously 4th and 8 is dumb, but give me a coach all day who goes for it 100% of the time on fourth and short over midfield over someone who is scared of their shadow.

MDS

doug reminds me of a guy who works at a hardware store...knows tools...doesnt know about anything else and isnt smart enough in conversation to fake it. runs the grills at parties. doesnt really impress anyone, but doesnt really bother anybody. not offputting. but not a guy youre like holy shtein we gotta text doug.

I agree with all of this. Thought it was crazy that Chip had no Act 2. In his introductory press conference, I remember him and Lurie both blatantly talking about how the Eagles weren't hiring his college system, but a mind that could keep innovating and adapting as the league changed. Meanwhile he turned out to be the least adapting motherfarger ever.

Legendz hit it right...he's generic.

There's nothing above and beyond special. He's just a guy

phillies will be under 500 this year...book it

Zanshin

I agree that he seems like "just a guy." Look at him and any normal person would say, "how did that that doofus get to be a head coach?" But at this point since he somehow is the head coach and hasn't been awful, it would be great to look at him and say "how did that doofus win a Super Bowl?" Maybe he's like Forest Gump and he'll just inexplicably find himself there. Life is, after all, like a box of chocolates.

This is probably the best analogy of Pederpson that I've seen.  Spot on.

this is your daily reminder that rich kotite won a playoff game

And Barry Switzer won a super bowl
And Charlie Manuel won a world series and I thought he was functionally mentally disabled.  If Doug can get the Eagles a Super Bowl, I will gladly eat my words.

QB Eagles

Charlie isn't dumb, just West Virginian. I know PhDs with worse hick accents than Charlie's.

SD

Charlie was perfect for the team because Rollins/Utley/Hamels/Howard etc. weren't rebellious mess up the chemistry guys so he just had to manage. They respected him and that was enough.
