Long snapper trades all over the place today. Colts traded theirs to the Jets for safety Ronald Martin.

The man. The myth. The legend.

if you think the eagles are frustrating try being the lions....gonna hand matt stafford, maybe the 15th best qb in the nfl, the biggest contract in the league
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Sam Bradford has been paid how much money?

He had his crazy ass rookie contract, which was something like 75mil with 50mil guaranteed.  I forget what the contract details with the Eagles were, but I don't remember them being terribly outrageous (relative to the market).

If I remember correctly, Bradford's rookie contract was so obscene that the following year they had a new rookie wage scale in place.

Stafford is probably more than halfway through his career and has been incredible at times and downright awful at times.  Throwing that much money at him at this point in his career is beyond ridiculous.

MDS

i agree on the surface. stafford should not be the highest paid qb in the nfl. but consider this: good qbs are few and far between. good qbs hitting the open market are beyond rare. if stafford hit the open market, the jets, bills, dolphins, browns, possibly texans, maybe cardinals, jags and a few other teams would be fighting over him. the money would get astronomical.

but yea if im the lions i let him go, or trade him, and just bottom out and start over.

hes been really really good the last few years and is entering his prime...timing is everything and he happens to be man up right now for this kind of money...could do a whole lot worse than him being the highest paid player in the league

matthew stafford is so good the lions havent won a playoff game or even a division title. maybe now that hes in his prime hell magically become better than rodgers.

i get the timing as to why hes getting caked but the dude is a good not great qb. in my view its difficult to justify allocating that much of your cap to someone that isnt even a starting fantasy qb.

whats the scenario for the lions now? go somewhere between 6-10 and 9-7 for the next 5 years? sign me up for that.

the eagles havent been able to replace the farging bedwetter....good luck replacing a top ten qb in his prime

and stafford might not be great or be worth this kind of money but the nfl over pays for qb's...in three years he will be the 9th highest paid qb...thats how the nfl works

top ten qb

rodgers, ryan, brees, newton, wilson, brady, roethlisberger, luck, carr, manning, cousins, rivers all better. winston, dak, wentz, mariota could all potentially be better.

if you are going to count young players who might be better than you have to count old players who might be worse...either way hes a top ten qb

lol at luck being better...luck cant even get on the field and when he does he isnt very good

holy crap i just noticed you put eli in there...wtf?

eli has 2 rings...stafford doesnt even have 2 playoff wins. hes won double digit games 2 times. no division titles. 0-3 in the playoffs. this isnt even a conversation.

luck cant stay on the field because his o line stinks. im not gonna count that against him.

this isnt a lifetime achievement award and isnt about the giants defense in 2007...its about the top ten qb's in the league right now....eli is not that close to being one of them

thats like saying victor cruz is a better wr than brandin cooks cause he won a superbowl a decade ago
