QB Eagles

DMac is terrible as a radio or TV guy, I've never heard him say one insightful thing and have no idea why ESPN hired him. I didn't think Dawk was very good as an analyst either, but he was 20x better than McNabb.

ice grillin you

ive watched him several times thruout the year talk birds and the thing that always stands out is his absolute refusal to praise Carson wentz

he's the same spiteful bed wetting little bitch he's always been

It worked out, and that's nice and all, but I thought it was pretty pointless and borderline stupid to go for 2 in that situation.

I'm a fan of not taking points off the board. If there's a drive extending penalty on a made FG, then yeah.... it's a potential 4 pt swing, but by and large, leave the points on the board.

But mostly I was just looking at the game situation. Score was 6-3 halfway through the 2nd qtr.  A made 2pt attempt does very little for you because a td still leaves you trailing. But if you miss it, then a fg ties the game.  It's not a huge deal, I'm not crucifying him over it, it's just a pretty pointless gamble at that stage in the game that didn't have a very high payout.

the score of the game is irrelevant at that time...you arent worried about 8-3 vs. 7-3...you are looking at the big picture by going for two...in theory it would turn a tie into a win for you late in the game...you are down 21-15 instead of 21-14 and can win the game..or you are up 25-17 and minny has to score a touchdown and a two to tie it putting more pressure on the opponent coming down the stretch

as for going for it in geneal....theres almost nowhere on the field and no game/score situation where i wouldnt go for it on 4th and 1

the important thing tho is doug showing off by dropping mad mathematics when explaining his decision

I like that his default is aggression in those decisions.  Rather die by that method than someone who punts on opposing team's 40 on 4th and 1.  That being said, thought 4th and 2 versus Vikings D at the end of the first half was pretty dumb even though it worked out.

I get the logic. You can always make a case supporting going for 2.  It's not my personal preference in that situation and the reward doesn't outweigh the risk enough, imo.

Agreed on 4th and 1 though. Once the offense is on their own 40 yard line, the punter would be an afterthought in most situations. This is probably the lifetime of Tecmo and Madden talking though.

ice grillin you

i mean that was "4th and 1" so if you agree with almost always going for it on 4th and 1 in any circumstance im not sure why you would be against going for two there

Going for it on 4th and 1 at midfield is making an attempt to extend a drive to have a shot at a FG or TD.  Going for 2 in the middle of the 2nd qtr is at best a 1 pt gain.

I'm done talking about it  You like it, I don't see all that much benefit from it.  FOOTBALL!!

Another thing I liked later in the game: When the Eagles were about to kick a FG, and the Vikings called a time out to ice the kicker. Apparently Dougie, or Fipp, or somebody...said farg you and attempted another play into the endzone. It didn't work, but they came back and still kicked the FG.

so basically you would never ever go for two unless it was late and you needed it to win or tie because not going for an extra pt is always taking pts off the board since its a gimme...seems conservative coming from someone who just agreed with me that going for it on 4th and 1 just about anywhere anytime is the right call

I didn't like them thinking FG first in that situation anyway; plenty of time for another play
