when they set the blocking the plate rule, i noted how stupid it was that 3B can block that base without the ball, but catchers cant do the same

the same goes for middle infielders being allowed to get lit up, while catchers cant

this event will trigger a rule change

it such a dumb concept anyway....one guy gets a full speed running head start to completely blast someone while the other player has to put all his attention and concentration on catching the ball and tagging a base while completely exposing his legs to destruction....I realize and appreciate that its part of the game and it wouldn't be right to let them have free reign to turn double plays uncontested as that would look silly....but as it stands right now the guy turning the dp is incredibly exposed and defenseless

something has to change and it should have a long time ago

the take out slide is banned in college and high school

first one - not remotely the same.....first it was an actual hook slide on the ground....second his foot went right over the base....no issue with this one whatsoever

second one - this was a bad one but still not in the class of GRIT's...he went over the bag and hit the base before the man...still even tho it wasn't anything like GRIT's id have no problem with a one or two game suspension here as its not a good look...unlike GRIT's theres an argument to be made either way here

third one - this was the closest to GRIT's in that it wasn't near the base but it was still a slide...I cant recall ever seeing something like GRIT's where the player doesn't even slide...I don't know what youd call it but a tackle....he went knees first into the player...whatever GRIT did it was not a slide or any sort of baseball play......that said even tho this is not like GRIT's I def would have suspended Coughlan for recklessness

I'll chalk it up and say you're drunk and you're mad at the fact that the championship Phillies team doesn't exist anymore and the fact Rollins and Utley are on the hated Dodgers. But as baseball fans, we've been seeing bullshtein slides for YEARS now, and this is the FIRST in almost 30 years of watching baseball that I've heard ANYONE complain about these slides.

PS. It doesn't matter that it was to the Dodgers benefit...these slides are part of the game. Sure, it's farged up someone got hurt, but these plays are part of the game. All of a sudden, because the play jeopardizes the team's chances from the #1 Media market, it's an issue. farg that. MLB is a hypocrite. shtein happens in baseball. If you don't want these to be the rules, don't turn your cheek when it happens hundreds of times over the past century.
