im not sure how to buy into the chargers not going yet...is this is a farce or a legit opportunity for san diego to keep them?

I think there's a legit opportunity for San Diego to keep the Chargers since the Raiders have effectively been blocked now.

The other owners love Spanos and will be on board with whatever he wants to do. He's gonna run the numbers and try to guess which market would be more profitable.

LA is a zesty sports city

This is known

Except to you

based on what? people not being as into it as  chicago or philly?

thats all message board, chest puffing meathead fanboy nonsense. if youre having a bar debate over the best sports cities in america, of course, la isnt on there. but that really doesnt have any correlation to the markets ability to properly support 1 or 2 football teams, which it will do.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Ok we shall see.

I mean it's not like LA hasn't lost two teams before or anything

the eagles werent selling out games in the early 90s....totally different time for sports and media

enough corporate suits are going to buy the expensive seats/suites/club boxes, etc that it really wont matter if they ever sell the common man seats, which they will because its an area of 15 million people with tons of transplants dying to see their teams when they visit.

you really, really need to stick to your wheelhouse - rudy's bbq and pville sports bars

You'll be in heaven

Football fans doing football things and you'll be looking for some obscure tv show set

MDS

when i was in la a few years ago i did a warner bros tour and we went to the set of the sullivan and son, which is some awful sitcom

i went on set and got to walk the stairs to nowhere that are in the back of the set....no joke greatest moment of life. i felt like carl winslow going upstairs after his presence in the scene was no longer required

This is true from a local point of view and 100% false from a transplant point of view.

The number of people living in LA/SoCal from NY/Boston/Philly alone is staggering. Then throw in your transplants from everywhere else and you can practically sell out 8 home games a year with visiting fans alone. Christ, the Eagles/Chargers game back around 2010ish was easily 70% Eagles fans. Birds may have a nice travelling fanbase, but it ain't that nice. The majority of those people were local to SD.

ice grillin you

the stadium is going to host tons of non nfl game events...its going to be part of a commerical and private real estate complex...the home teams season ticket base is probably not in the top ten most important things about moving to la

exactly...but the base will be movie studio execs and other big shots. a ton of those tickets will be available on stub hub on the secondary market, and like sarge said, transplants and visiting fans are going to invade the place every game. they probably know that, and it really doesnt matter. a ticket sold is a ticket sold. stan is doing this because hes a greedy republican shtein, and for no other reason than that.

Schefter is saying Hue is going to Cleveland.

If he can win there...he should be in the HOF immediately.
