clearly you and easy needed this info cause there was not even a small reason to ever mock the move (bradford or not) as its a no lose for washington
It's not a no brainer or without any downside. You can debate the baggage and distraction factors. But as I'd mentioned, if RG blows out a knee the team is still on the hook for his salary.

the injury thing carries pretty much zero risk since it has nothing to do with 2015....it only guarantees the money if rg3 cannot play at all in the 2016 season...it would have to be a catastrophic injury to prevent him from playing any games in 2016

the baggage and distraction factors also apply to 2016....if hes a douchebag again this year they cut him with no penalty...if he becomes tom brady in the locker room then they have him for another year to see if hes really changed...same for his on the field play....if he returns to his rookie year form this season then you got him locked up....if he blows then you cut him with no penalty

i think you are confusing what option this year was for....its for the 2016 season not this upcoming season

complete no brainer

I don't think I'm the one confusing anything. If RG blows out a knee in preseason (yes, 2016), which is very possible, the tater skins have to pay him the $16+ million whether he plays another down or not. It doesn't have to be catastrophic at all, just a normal run of the mill RG torn ligament. Or shoulder, or foot or whatever.

what they did this week gives them the option to sign him to a one year deal next march...period end of story...can you explain why that is a bad thing in any way

if you want to rip them for having rg3 on the 2016 roster then the time to do it is march 2016...this option protects them against losing rg3 for nothing after this season

i dont know how else to explain it

Here's what I'm trying to explain- if RG gets a bad injury that takes him out for 2016 or even much of it, which in his case could definitely happen, Washington now has to pay him 16M for 2016. His case is unique because he is injury prone and gets a top 10 salary. Plus the bad blood and history between the RG camp and the team that pushed him back on the field furthering a bad injury. Not to mention James Andrews misspeaking about the decision, then RG getting benched to prevent injury when he was finally able to play... and the all rest of the debacle. If RG blows out a knee I could easily see Washington wanting to push him back out on the field because they have nothing to lose anyway. RG, who has a right to his own second opinion, would likely say he needs to sit out for the rest of the year, along with the NFLPA getting involved and agreeing. Which litigious Danny won't like. And there are the ingredients for Washington to get embroiled in yet another hot mess, which of course would be awesome.

Bottom line is that injury is a possible downside and with RG the risk is higher than other of those top 10 players. For example RG would want to say an injury is season ending while the team would say he is ready and has to get back on the field, with  potential for another fiasco. Therefore not a no brainer, it's something that needs to be considered.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Washington shouldn't pick up the option, the point was that there is a possible downside. For example let's say RG blows out a knee after

wait so your whole premise is that he gets hurt in 2015 so badly that hes out for all of 2016?

yikes...cant argue with that one

Washington taterskins' name hinders D.C.'s efforts for stadium site lease

WASHINGTON -- The National Park Service won't grant the District of Columbia a new lease for the site of the Washington taterskins' old stadium in part because Interior Secretary Sally Jewell opposes the team's name.

Jewell reiterated that position during a meeting in late April with Mayor Muriel Bowser, Interior Department spokeswoman Jessica Kershaw said.

Bowser's administration has been in preliminary talks with the taterskins about moving the team back to Washington and building a new stadium. The team currently plays its home games at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, but the taterskins' lease there expires in 2026.

"Secretary Jewell has been clear that she considers the Washington football team's name a relic of the past and believes it should be changed," Kershaw said.

The taterskins previously played at RFK Stadium in Washington. The stadium sits on land owned by the National Park Service that is leased to the city. The lease expires in 22 years. The city would need an extension to build a new stadium there.

Altering the lease would require an act of Congress, and the city could seek Congressional support for a change in the lease without the Park Service's blessing. Kershaw said the department has not received a specific proposal to extend or modify the lease and that any such proposal would be evaluated on its merits.

it really doesnt hinder it
at least this latest news doesnt
the new stadium is probably ten years away
obviously long after the obama administration is gone
no one has any idea what the incumbent admin will do at the time of a deal

God has blessed me with an unbelievable family, real friends & the opportunity to catch my dreams. God has also allowed me to face challenges throughout my life on and off the field. And I have always had faith that the size of the blessing that is coming is the reason for the magnitude of the battle I am facing at that time. By no means am I perfect, but God is. God is and he will always have your back. I know that the best is yet to come for my family, friends & career.
