This is my 24th year of spring training in Clearwater and this is the first time I've ever walked out of the place without any hope.

you must have somehow fit those 24 years into the time period btwn 2002 and 2012

Yeah it was but I always had fun at Jack Russell and there was always a glimmer of something on the horizon.  The early 90's we had Kruk & co.  Then later on we had Scott Rolen & then Burrell.  These guys right now are just dreck.  I realize it's only the first week of spring training but there is simply nothing to be excited about.  Nothing.  And that depresses me.  I can distance myself from it by turning the television off or ignoring them in the standings, but when you see this shtein live and in person, it's just terribly depressing.

Whatever, though.  I'll get over it.

The kid in me remembers those fondly and I always thought they'd be good and my pops would be like "they stink. They always do. The only reason to listen is for Harry and Whitey"
