its essentially for 1 week....they can sign the 10000 zesty veterans like jay feely, akers, bironas and even henery if parkey bombs after that first week and not be on the hook for their contract.

they would never sign him for one week...if they wanted a veteran they would have already brought one in...if they went with parkey and I would be surprised if they did it would be in their minds for the season

No a veteran's salary would be guaranteed if on the roster week one. So they would wait until week 2 if they chose to go that route.

well it wouldnt be a "1 week" contract...but he would be on a short leash, as would henery. i dont figure theyd cut him after 1 bad game but if he missed a bunch of field goals of 2-3 games, theyd probably look to bring in someone else

There have only been 3 FGs of 54=+ yards in Eagles history in regular season. Dempsey (54 in 1971), Franklin (59, 1979) and Akers (57, 2003)

yeah but that also goes for any veteran they would bring in....no matter who their kicker ends up being week 1 if they suck for 2-3 games they are gone

i have no idea if it means anything, but parkey is getting 1H with the 2/3's while henery takes 2H with the 3/4's. so, perhaps parkey was ahead. then he drills a 54 yarder. henery cant reach from 48.

thats irrelevant at the price a kicker would get...veteran minimum...plus if you only give them a 1 year deal which is all theyd give obviously then it counts against the cap only like 400k....money is only an issue if the birds brass doesnt see a veteran being significantly better than a non veteran...then you go with the young guy I guess....if there was a veteran out there worthy of bringing in and they dominated the incumbent he would be the week 1 guy...plus you save 600k by cutting hennery...either way all this is silly....we are talking about a hundy grand here a hundy grand there...meaningless
