9 picks and they took 3 Russians and no fighters

the russian thing was played out in like 1998 easy....they have been drafting russians since 1990 and drafted three of them in 1992 alone

hexy killin it?

He gets an A+ for this draft, an F that he hasn't moved anyone yet

fair enough but it takes two to tango and they have some horrid contracts to move

They can't really trade Vinny until his July $2 mill bonus is paid but I seriously doubt he's moveable anyway.

Macdonald/Schenn/Read/umberger is dead weight he should do everything in his power to rid.

macdonald is a complete joke....i like schenn....read was a one year wonder

Schenn is awful...I don't know how many games you paid attention to him live but he's consistently out of position, is slow, and generally has no purpose. I'm so glad the guys they've drafted over the last few years are out of the typical slow plodding Flyers mold they think is so great. Even Morin can move for a big man.

I'm embarrassed to use the Lets Go Flyers Facebook page as a source but I just read that they traded Grossman AND Pronger's contract to the Coyotes. Um is that even possible? And if so holy goddamned shtein.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Well it's on ESPN now so I guess it's a thing. That's one bad contract down. Actually got some things in return. Some Gagner something or other and a fourth rounder.

Edit: also I educated myself on the pronger contract and it wasn't impacting philly's cap. Not sure why they would trade it or why AZ would want it but who cares. No more Grossman.

Wait, they rid themselves of Grossman and Pronger's contract in the same deal?

How is that even remotely possible?

The Pronger money stayed on the cap all offseason until the first day of the season when the Flyers would place him on LTIR. So the availability of that money when they actually needed it was the issue. The yotes needed to get to the cap floor so they needed to take money on to comply.

Munson

Yeah as long as Pronger is on the LTIR or whatever I don't think it even matters, no idea what the point is of trading it, or taking it on.

NVM, SD got it.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

If I remember correctly, the offseason cap is 10% higher than it is in the regular season, but LTIR contracts count towards that cap.  So it gives the Flyers some extra maneuverability in the offseason.

A team like Arizona would like it because it allows them to reach the cap floor without actually shelling out the money.  Pronger counts nearly $5 million towards the cap (or the floor in this case), but they only have to pay him $525K.

EDIT:  SD already said this.  Should have read ahead, I guess.

There's noise that Hextall isn't sure that he will keep Gagner.

QuoteSome scouts considered Provorov, 18, the best blue-liner in the draft. If nothing else, he's one of the few who has been to Lincoln Financial Field for an Eagles game.

He came to North America 4 years ago in order to adjust to the culture and learn English. He watched plenty of movies, "Gladiator" is his favorite, and debuted with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights of the U16 Atlantic Youth Hockey League in 2011-12.

This past season, playing for Brandon of the WHL (Hextall's hometown in Manitoba), Provorov led all WHL rookies with 61 points. He had 15 goals and 46 assists.

Provorov is so immersed in the culture here that he went to a couple of Eagles games.
