impossible to predict rf/cf because it hinges on who they trade hamels for (a must deal), if they swap brown for another prospect failure, if they can get something for byrd, etc. but i will say that slappy noodle arm revere can bounce and so can marloln byrd and his 310 obp.

if they have tomas, franco, asche, and 1-2 other youngins in the lineup i will care a lot. if ben revere, byrd, choke and the other geezers are back i will not care at all.

you said giles was terrible like 4 months ago...you dont know anything. franco is about as promising as it gets. and tomas can absolutely rake.

asche is rather middling, and it remains to be seen if he can even play 2B. his 710 ops is 12th among qualified 2B, 19th among 3B. so a little position change and all of a sudden his bat is average. plus hes only in his 1st year. could get better. got plenty of time to see.

The only reason to watch these clowns is Ken Giles.  Good God that eighth inning was something to behold.  Granted it was the Marlins and it's not like he smoked Mike Stanton or anything, but holy shtein.  His stuff is straight up FILTH.

most relief pitchers, sure. but theres a handful of guys that are just GOOD. kimbrel, chapman, jansen, etc.

will giles be this good long term? of course not. its borderline impossible to keep it up. hes unhittable now. but theres no reason to believe he cant become an elite relief pitcher.

you give gillick way too much credit...he walked into a situation with howard, utley, rollins, ruiz, burrell, victorino, hamels, myers and madson. all in their primes or close to it. he also drafted poorly. part of the reason they suck now is the gillick and early amaro drafts resulted in exactly nothing.

gillick simply added. didnt do anything big. werth was a great find. lidge a great trade. moyer and blanton solid deadline adds. stairs, too. romero he found on the scrap heap. it was mostly little tweaking like that. the core was in place.

the first lee trade that roob made was brilliant, and needed, since that was the season hamels' vagina flared up. the halladay trade was great, the second lee trade asinine. from there, trading for oswalt and pence were dumb, signing lee again was putrid. but he kept making them better short term and worse long term. again, it aint his fault they couldnt do it.

ask jimmy and chase and choke.
