farging horrible.

The Giants are working Rhodes out tomorrow. I'm sure they'll sign him and he'll stick it to us. Surprised super lib Lurie didn't force Howie to sign him to make a statement about gays. He has to be better than Allen plus he could be a band aid until they can draft someone who can cover.

I'm not going to claim that the secondary is chock full of talent or anything, and the one dude who might have some value decided to commit seventeen pass interferences yesterday, but when receivers are open by 5-10 yards for the entire game regardless of down, distance or field position, the farging defensive coordinator needs to be blamed as much or more than the players.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

the chargers didn't take one long shot down the field that i remember.  i don't know why they didn't have the corners play press and blitz the shtein of them and see what happens.  they blitzed plenty, but they played soft coverage and it every drive was a slow death
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

I might be in the minority here but there's enough talent on D to be adequate. When I say adequate I mean a top 20 defense. Right now they're in the 30 range, if you look at the history of Billy Davis defenses they're right where he always ranks.

The Chargers have free reign off the snap, the Eagles corners barely make an effort to bump them at the line.

And farging Cary Williams is infuriating to watch. He has good coverage on these PI calls but he insists on grabbing the receivers jersey.

chargers never had to take a long shot down the field when youre getting open at will in stride across the middle on 20+ yard pass plays

corners arent strong enough to play press and damn sure arent fast enough. they cant make up the speed necessary if they did play press and the receiver gets passed them off the los, so they are forced to play off. the system rivers plays in is predicated off of 3 step drops--so when your corners suck, combined with weak blitzers...even if they pressed...the sd wr's have the whole middle of the field wide open. they were in a lose lose situation regardless on defense--and should be the case on a weekly basis.

youre seeing the trend around the nfl develop with this no huddle offense and how easy its starting to get to put up points. sure its cute when the eagles do it to somebody else, but it looks even worse against the eagles when the players suck

The slant was open all day long, patterns like that where the middle of the field is wide open is more schematic than it is talent. You have to leave an LB deep or a safety needs to come up to make sure those guys are wide farging open. I just watched the replay and they're either selling out on the blitz or leaving a safety too deep on those patterns.

Zanshin

What is there to say about it, really? I mean, they had a dearth of talent to begin with...and they're using what little they have to run a scheme that doesn't even fit the lack of talent, all coached by a Meh, at best, coordinator. Other than being pissed that the cupboard got this bare, there's not much point in getting worked up. This is what anyone with a brain knew they'd be.

SD

one positive note is they're causing turnovers

rjs246

What makes this frustrating is the fact that they went whole-sale rebuild this offseason with the coaching staff and decided to go with an unsuccessful retread at DC. Didn't make sense then, doesn't make sense now.

they also have no one who can cover with the possible exception of boykin....their corners are atrocious (yet still not nearly as bad as their safeties)....defense was always going to take a couple years to revamp...loucheiz purifoy please
