If this is the pick that makes IGY give up, then it was totally worth it.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Traded their 4th (101) and a 7th (pick #210) to move up to get him.

things to ponder:

1. why did they bring vick back
2. the perceived notion that chipper wants/needs a mobile qb to run his offense is now blown out the water which bring us to this...
3. what kind of offense is chipper going to run
4. did chipper have any input whatsoever in this pick or was it a howie farg andy in the fat ass special

Chip says they had him rated as a top-50 player on their board and he has all the intangibles you want in a QB. I dunno....odd pick to me, but...

btw that's the 12th Pac-12 player on the Eagles now.  Go Chip

I watched all the USC games, Barkley is a tough kid but doesn't seem to fit the Kelly style offense. Plus Barkley had Woods & Lee to throw to, they will make any QB look good even stupid Vick..

I would've loved this pick at this pt if AR was still the coach.  Don't really get the fit with Chip.

ice grillin you

you have to believe that chip is going to be a coach who caters his offense to his qb rather than find a qb who fits his offense....its the exact opposite of whats always been done but it fits chips MO that hes going to try and turn the league on its head

if nothing else its going to be fascinating to watch

Eagles 2013 playbook:

hand-off to Shady
dump-off to Shady
screen to Desean
screen to Maclin
dump-off to Celek
dump-off to Casey
dump-off to Ertz

Yep.

The idea that certain players have to be drafted to fit his scheme is being debunked. He'll tailor his scheme to what he has. I think there will be a WCO influence with Shurmur there too - so we'll see how they use everyone.

i posted in the other thread that the thousand TE sets now makes sense...because if barkley is the future theres gonna be a whole lot of dinkin and dunkin going on

I think Barkley can be very successful running some west coast hybrid offense built on accuracy and timing.   That being said, this is the end for Mr Foles.  If you take Scott you stash him as a boom bust player and see if he develops down the line.   Barkley is what he is.  The ceiling isn't the same so you take him realizing that and expecting him to become your QB IMO and accepting him for what he is.
