Wrong

They have a great park and still have players fans can get behind (Lee, Hamels, Utley, Rollins...Dom Brown), as long as they add some pieces in the offseason they'll stay relevant enough to draw 30,000 a night. People go to games for a night out, they didn't do that when they were drawing 15,000 because the Vet was a dump. Totally different atmosphere.

Since CBP has been open (10 years) they've only not drawn 3 million fans twice (excluding this year) and those years they were only a few hundred thousand fans from hitting that mark.

God damn Ben Revere is annoying

Rome

2012 average attendance: 44,021

2013 average attendance: 38,481

That's a 13% drop in one year.  It's going to get worse if they don't radically change their philosophy, dude.  I mean, the team itself is going to get worse just because they gaping holes all over the place, but still...

SD

CBP has been open 10 years, their average is over 3 million fans a year. Even with Jon Lieber as their ace they still almost drew 3 million. You might be a bit out of touch because you don't live in the area and see what a draw they are every summer. Half the people that go to the game do so to drink and hang out.

This. At least 50% of the people on my facebook feed posting pictures of themselves at Phillies games aren't exactly diehard baseball fans. And it doens't seem to bother them that the Phils suck this eyar

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I'll try this again... the reason they were able to have the sort of payroll they did is because they were drawing sellout crowds every night.  They've lost almost 5,000 a night in one year.  If that continues next year, they're down to 35,000 and so on.  If they start losing 90-100 games a year, that place will look like Pittsburgh before long.

In 2004 they averaged 40,626.

The novelty wore off and then...

In 2005 they averaged 33,316.

Sound familiar?   If they aren't winning, they aren't going to draw.   History has proven this.

Grit being beastly!  Navarro got cleaned, shoulder and knee.  Ouch!

2nd player injured this game for the Cubs - even this inning?

Utley positively smoked him there.  I'm afraid Navarro's really injured.

Don Ho

It does not look good.  Grit's lucky his knee didn't explode and shatter.

1. Utley and his reinforced wallet just killed Navarro. Dumb shtein Dioner shouldn't have gotten in the way of Cha$e.

2. Revere in the booth > Wheels

3. Utley isn't a fossil.

4. Sandberg bites nuts as a 3b coach

5. When they get their tv deal they'll be flush with moolah.

I'll try this again...I live in Florida where nobody gives a shtein about baseball and there's a ton of other things to do.

He sure does.  He's been putrid all season.

I found it amusing the John Deere meat wagon had red emergency lights on it.

Don't necessarily blame  Sandberg for Utley being out.  Took a hell of a throw and catch to get him.

I do have to agree, though, that Sandberg hasn't been good coaching third.

All ya can do is laugh.

Wow what a collection is shteinbags.
