disband the team.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

That farging fraud didn't even go watch the game tonight - he was at the goddamn soccer game (he got booed).

He should be forced to watch this abortion that he built. Like a dog who shteins on the carpet...Monty needs to rub his nose in it and swat the farg with a paper on his nose.

i hate him as much as anyone but there isnt a gm in the history of baseball that could have stopped what is happening now....it was clear as day three years ago

smug is a pos not cause they suck this year but because they are going to suck for 3-5 years longer than they should because of his delusion stubbornness and inability to look forward

Bullshtein - when Gillick retired if they would've hired a GM who had a clue they could've kept winning. But Monty went back to his archaic ways of keeping it in the family and promoted this farging clown.

The only reason he didn't promote him after he fired Wade was because his precious stadium would've been empty and nothing would've changed.

when you have a group of young guys all come up together at the same time and you keep them intact whats going to happen one day is that they are all going to get old at the same time....this is what you see now

the problem is that they don't have a future either...and that's what is on smug....I knew a few years ago they were gonna be zesty for the middle of this decade....but now you are probably looking at 2020 ish before they are legit again

you could retrace the steps...dont trade lee the first time...dont trade for oswalt...sign beltre...sign beltran...dont resign choke

but even then utley is still injured, rollins still regresses, doc is still injured, ruiz is still on roids/injured. it wouldnt have added up. sure they couldve maybe been better or made the playoffs last year and this year, but they werent going to win the world series.

the play was to blow it up post 2011 debacle and wait for the turnaround in 13, 14 and 15. but at this point, with smug running the show, they probably wont be a title contender until he is fired. and that will take a few years.

QuoteThe Braves recorded only five hits in their 12-inning victory over the Phillies on Saturday. That's the fewest hits the Braves have had in a win in a game that went 12 or more innings since May 26, 1959 when the Milwaukee Braves beat the Pirates and Harvey Haddix, 1-0, in 13 innings. Haddix had pitched what might have been the greatest game ever and lost. Haddix had a perfect game through 12 innings before losing the game on a Joe Adcock hit in the 13th inning.

Here are five stats to know going into tonight's Sunday Night Baseball action.

1. The Braves are riding the league's best active win streak right now at nine games. Saturday night's comeback win against the Phillies was their league-leading 35th of the year. Atlanta has won 16 of the past 23 meetings with the Phillies and 10 of the past 14 at Citizens Bank Park.

The Braves enter today's action with a season-high 11.5-game lead in the NL East. It marks the first time since Sept. 21, 2003, that the Braves have had a lead of 11.5 games in their division. The 2003 Braves finished the year with a 10.0 game lead in the NL East.

2. At 10 games under .500, the Phillies are trying to avoid their first losing season since 2002. Philadelphia is averaging 3.8 runs per game this season. This season could be the first since 1991 that the Phillies fail to score at least four runs per game.

Fastest Average Fastball
NL Lefties This Season

Francisco Liriano PIT 92.8
Gio Gonzalez WSH 92.5
Clayton Kershaw LAD 92.4
Alex Wood ATL 92.3
Tony Cingrani CIN 92.1
>>Min. 3 Starts

3. Rookie lefty Alex Wood makes his fourth career start for the Braves Sunday, and for the second time in his career, it will be on regular rest. The hard-thrower has posted a well-above-average strikeout rate of 10.3 strikeouts per nine innings (avg. 7.5) and walked 3.0 batters per nine innings (avg. 3.0). Wood has allowed one home run in 33 1/3 IP, due in part to a very good groundball rate (55 percent).

Although Wood's average fastball of 92.3 MPH isn't incredible, it ranks fourth among NL lefties with at least three starts this season, behind some pretty significant names.

4. Cliff Lee returns to the mound after missing a start with neck stiffness. He'll look to shake off a tough stretch in his last four starts when he went 1-2 with a 5.47 ERA.

Lee has shown amazing command throughout his career, and this year has been no different. He leads the NL in strike rate (71 percent), percent of pitches in the zone (60 percent) and strikeouts looking this season (54 percent). Lee is 5-1 with a 1.38 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 0.5 BB/9 in his last seven starts against the Braves.

Jason Heyward This Season

Thru June 1

Since

BA .142 .286
OBP .283 .369
Slug pct .236 .476
HR 2 8
RBI 8 22

5. Jason Heyward moved into the leadoff spot for the Braves on July 27. Prior to that, he saw 57 percent fastballs. Since then, he's seen 65 percent fastballs.

Through July 26, Atlanta's leadoff hitters had an OBP of .296 and were scoring an average of 0.6 runs per game. Since Heyward took over at the top of the order, the Braves' leadoff spot has a .425 OBP and is contributing 1.5 runs per game.
