I think TMac just shot Todd the finger for mocking rally time.

The Los Gigantes are worse than the Phils

this is right up there with his "michael young is hitting .330, ya happy now, bitch?" post

god damnit i love it when homers get got
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

PhillyPhreak54

Hahaha wow what a wonderful pile of shtein that entire inning was.

the silver lining and a reason to watch and root for total implosion is that they have a real chance to get a top 5 pick in next summers draft

its a real possibility and nothing but a good thing

of course rube could forfeit the pick by signing matt garza or something

wonder if romey is still good with his deal

I'm good with a 100 win team spending a ton of money on a closer to get them over the top.  Papelbon has been a disaster.  Am I happy with the deal?  Yes.  Am I happy with his performance.  No.

lol

even easy legendz and the lil guy who varied from defending it to not having a problem with it would never say right now they are happy with his deal

i applaud your stubborness tho...its gotta be tough being wrong all the time

The deal: (Removing Papelbon from the equation.)  Fine With.  Top notch closers are very expensive and he was the best available.  Again, fine with it in principle.

The performance of the player who received the deal:  Not Fine With.

It couldn't be simpler to understand yet you fail miserably.  I blame myself, actually.  Here I am expecting you to be someone you're not.

youre fine with spending 50 million on someone who pitches for one inning 2-3 times a week?

newsflash. anyone can close. it doesnt take some special god given power or the need to grow weird facial hair and do goofy things (wheels). you just have to be a good relief pitcher who can strike people out. historically, there are very few people who have been able to do that for an extended period of time.

historically, there have been like 100 guys whove been able to do it for a few seasons. the phillies easily could have found one of those guys. instead, they threw a bunch of money at someone whose empty back of the baseball card numbers were good, aka the ruben amaro way.

ryan madson was the closer in 2011. 2 years before that meatheads were frothing at the mouth saying "HE CANT CLOSE HES A SET UP GUY HES NOT CLUTCH RAMBLE RAMBLE WIP WIP LETS GO TO MCDONALDS RAMBLE RAMBLE." well as it turns out he could get people out in the 9th inning when the lead was between 1 and 3 runs.

grant balfour....glenn perkins...koji ouhera...frank rodney....sergio romo....edward mujica....jason grilli---none of these guys were big names, all were readily available over the past 2-3 years, and all are effectively pitching these days. but no. spend 50 million because papelbon, even at his best, is so much better.
