lol lets say for a second that your whole premise isnt beyond adsurd for a myriad of reasons....you wouldnt pull him before hes decision qualified

yes gotta make sure he passes the arbitrary mark of 5 innings so he can qualify for the arbitrary pointless decisions that no one cares about and mean nothing...of course

its about maximizing the meaningful, important innings that your good pitchers pitch. what exactly is being accomplished by cliff lee pitching in this meaningless game. they could throw justin de frautus and mike stutes the rest of the way and win.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

think about it like this...cliff lee is your best pitcher and he appears in 1/5th of the games. does that make sense? 80% of the games he does not participate in. logistically why are pitchers used like this? wouldnt sprinkling them through more games, and handpicking more important spots, be a better use for them?

forget about what you grew up on. the baseball of the 1980s is dead and gone.

I wonder if he laments the W-L stats in his paper?

"Jose pitched and got the meaningless overrated stat known as a win for the Mexico High All-Stars. He threw 6 scoreless but let's not get wrapped up in arbitrary numbers. Meanwhile his team supported his with a stupendous BABIP this fine afternoon."

MDS

i dont mention records...nothing in the silly world of baseball stats is worse than records. even saves.

youve got to think about getting an edge. thats all moneyball was about. beane wasnt jerking it to babip and vorp and those other nerd stats of which i do not care. its about taking advantage of something that no one else is doing...doing something differently. baseball is remarkably unchanged since 1905 even though there are eons of data showing there are better ways to play the game.

Don Ho

Typical.  Was there any doubt?
"Well where does Jack Lord live, or Don Ho?  That's got to be a nice neighborhood"  Jack Singer(Nicholas Cage) in Honeymoon in Vegas.

if they dont win can they still win the world series?

Well maybe not...that's off the railing!

ice grillin you

should have taken phifer out in the 4th inning so the brewers had five innings to come back instead of one and a third
