well thats the difference btwn a homer and a hater and you are an all time homer and im an all time hater

and actually i watched a lot of o's nats and the hockey game....but even if there werent better games on theres no chance i could watch three hours of a meaningless phillie game when mcarthy and wheels are doing it as i have to have it on mute and that gets annoying

i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

so i was thinking about relief pitchers. i have a scenario.

4-3 game cliff lee at 110 pitches, hes done. nationals have harper, zimm, laroche due up in the 8th inning. next 3 are desmond, espinosa, ramos.

give me one reason why you shouldnt use papelbon there other than "well its not a save situation."
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

PhillyPhreak54

Damn right he should be used there. He should get the heart of the order

MDS

do you think saves are stupid but like wins?

no you use papelbon for the 8th because its the strongest part of the order. take the word save out of your vocabulary. explain to me why wouldnt use your best reliever in the most critical point in the game*

*the only catch would be if your second or third best relievers are incapable of passing the mental barrier to get the 27th out of a game. some relievers simply cannot do this with any kind of regularity. most can, though.

thats fine but id leave paplebon in for the ninth as well....hes still your best pitcher in his second inning of work....theres no reason why every closer in the league shouldnt be able to get six outs

they probably can but that most likely prohibits them from being used the following day

plus on the surface, shouldnt a #2 reliever be able to get out the bottom of the order? maybe mike adams is a bit of a bad example seeing how old as washed up he is, but how about a quality secondary bullpen option like tyler clippard and david robertson.

its all about thinking logically. im waiting for the day a manager actually does this.
