Bynum's not playing this season

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2013/03/01/philadelphia-76ers-andrew-bynum-knee-might-not-play/1957605/

Move on from this farging bum. Tank for a few seasons and pray for some good picks.

I was really optimistic that he'd give them about 50 games this year, especially when he started 60 in a condensed season last year. Seemed like he turned a corner and was willing to play through some pain. Never expected 82 games from him and I figured that if he played well and was reasonably healthy this year that the Sixers would max him out but only get maybe 2 more productive years out of him. I was cool with it though because I figured a semi-healthy Bynum for 3 years gave them 3 pretty legit shots at the Finals.  Now that whole spectacle the Sixers put on after the trade is biting them in the ass. They tried showboating like Miami did after getting LBJ and Bosh without acquiring anything near the same type of talent.  Shame on me for believing the hype. Public Enemy told me not to.

I'd like to be pissed at Bynum, but the Sixers really only have themselves to blame. They probably didn't realize at the time of the trade that Bynum would not play this year, but they definitely knew it was serious leading up to opening day and they put on a front and told the fans that he'd be fine and expected him back in a week or so.  Then it was maybe December. Then by the AS break.

Oh well.  If nothing else, this speeds up the tanking process by 1 year. Had they kept Iggy, they'd be a 6-8 seed with a 1st or 2nd round exit and would lose Iggy as a free agent with a 20something pick in the draft.  Now they're probably a top 5 lottery team. But aside from that, there's also probably a ? about Collins' future too.  Ownership didn't hire him and the team isn't even trying. Do they 86 him at the end of the year or give him a pass due to the lack of talent?  Collins has never coached more than 250 games with the same team and he'll be really close to that at the end of the season.

the bigger issue with bynum was always his attitude and desire to play basketball at all...the knee in my eyes was always secondary to that

from the minute they made the trade it was not going to end well

That's why I thought his willingness to play through some pain last year was a step in the right direction for him.  Oh well.  Like I said, it gets them a 1 yr head start in the eventual need to rebuild anyway.  If they can find a sucker trade partner for ET this offseason, they'll already be heading in the right direction.

It didn't work out, they need to move on. If they re-sign him they get what they deserve. They're finally clear of the Webber/Brand type deals, there's no reason to make that mistake again. Tank, tank, tank and get some young talent. Develop said talent, keep cap space open, and build your team. It's not like attendance is an issue.

Wonder who the coach will be.

I think Doug's gonna resign.

Rome

They're paying Bynum $16.4M to sit on his ass and do nothing.  Of all the things wrong with professional basketball, that's the worst, and it's a major reason why I refuse to watch it anymore.   Granted I never paid much attention to it anyway, but still... how the farg does a guy get paid that sort of cash for not playing?   It's disgusting.

It's called a contract, and it's the same reason LeBron gets paid less than 12 other guys even though he's the best player in the league, and why the best rookies don't end up making what they should.

The Sixers have no one to blame but themselves. It was a high risk/high reward gamble to go after Bynum. Of course it could have easily worked out, and then everyone would have been worshipping Aron. But shtein happens.

He doesn't deserve $16.4M for sitting on his ass.   Sorry.

LOL @ the "Rome's a racist" bullshtein too.

ice grillin you

of course he doesnt but it has nothing to do with the nba or its players....the only reason to pick on the nba there is because its filled with young rich lazy black kids...right?

and its not why you dont watch the nba....because if a lazy player caused you to not watch an entire pro sports league you wouldnt watch sports at all

Horrible.

I watched it at the bar and a bunch of us were screaming to tank. farging bums. LOSE.

ice grillin you

flyers are an average so its not realistic for them to get a high pick this year as much as i wish they could

the sixers on the other hand are a travesty and should not win the rest of the year....they got lucky tonight facing a team not only playing back to back but in the 5th game of a cross country 5 game road trip....evan turner makes me sick

MDS

they arent even close to getting in the top 3

meanwhile adam aron was giving way a courtside seat. sigh.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
