That's 8 home runs in 34 games for Chase....rumors of his demise greatly exaggerated?

Chase is still good.  Problem is whether he'll be healthy enough ever to play more than 60% of a season going forward.

Exactly.  Good thing is that we don't have to worry about him wearing down for the playoffs this year.

ice grillin you

i can safely say i was never worrying about that this year

I imagine they'll try and push him to 3 games and then rest next year, which will mean only missing 1 game per week on some weeks.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

lol one good doc game and one chaz utley homer and all of a sudden they are all stars again

just run out and get your season tickets already homers. im sure theyll magically stop being old next year.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

That's actually two good Doc games.  Two!

Regardless, Utley never stopped being "good".  He isn't the best second baseman in baseball but he's still a good player when he's healthy.  Problem is that he never is.

GRIT is a perfectly fine player the problem is as the little guy said he is each year progressively getting worse both on and off the field

yet people act like next year can be 2007 or 8 again

I don't think many people here think that.  Utley, Howard, Halladay, Lee etc all have already had their best years clearly.  I don't think any of the four of them are washed up though.  In Utley's case, he isn't hitting .300 again, but I could see a .270 year with a .360 OBP and 20 HRs.  Unfortunately you're right in that some think just wait until next year and he'll be back to the way he was, Howard will be hitting 40+ homeruns, Halladay will magically find 2-3 mph back etc.  Ain't happening, but there's a middle ground between thinking those four are done and realizing they aren't what they were.

ice grillin you

agreed....the middle ground is like 83 wins...they arent going to have a year like this again next season but they also arent making the playoffs

I'll wait to see what they do in the offseason before I speculate about next season.

MDS

they are only going to be as good as the free agent outfielders they can sign and whatever third baseman sebastian valle (their one expendable somewhat decent prospect) can get them.

so....you do that math on that one

Did I hear that correctly Wheels was in the Army?

So the piece of shrapnel from combat duty still lodge in his skull explains everything.

If he got out of the Army in 68' like he said then that makes him a Vietnam Vet.
