Why put him on waivers? Nobody is going to claim him and now he's going to be disgruntled. What an idiotic move.

He will not be disgruntled. Basically a lock Howard is put on waivers too. Maybe Halladay, Rollins, and Papelbon too. It is very common a means essentially nothing.

None of them are being put on waivers except Lee and it is common but not a day after Ruben declared "we have no interest in moving Cliff Lee".

MDS

oh my god who cares if they piss him off

he should die for coughing up a 4-0 lead in game 2. and its not like he or they are going anywhere.

just like everyone else hes going to have to go out and do his job without being head over heels in love with his bosses. huge deal.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

SD

Let me rephrase it this way: How does putting Cliff Lee on waivers improve the team?

MDS

someone might bite and take his awful contract off their hands, or they can work out a trade and maybe get someone back for him

since an aging, insanely expensive pitcher on a team with a ceiling of 84 wins for the next 3 years doesnt really do anything for anyone, id say it can GREATLY improve the team

for 10000th time: they need to get younger. they cant have old expensive worn down players making up the bulk of the roster. i cannot understand why you people have such a tough time seeing this.

Don Ho

Kind of wish Victorino ended up kicking his ass now.

No one is taking that contract you even said it yourself. I'm all for another team taking him and have said before I'd trade him just to get rid of his salary so your last point is moot...but at this point Ruben just looks like an idiot.

MDS

his contract is very difficult to trade, its not something that can be worked out in 2 weeks. but lets say cc tears in his leg up. now the yankees need an ace.

lee has cleared waivers. he can be traded. now the phils and yanks can talk.

just calm down and go back to hating women and denying climate change.

Thanks for the insight and all of this great information. I had no idea how waivers work.

And even if CC was injured not even the Yankees would take on Lee's deal.

Don Ho

Juan Samuel has been as bad as any of these douchebags out on the field.

It is amazing how awful this team is with guys on base.  I mean historically bad.  Even worse is how the pitchers seem to allow runs immediately after the hitters fail.  Cole only ended up giving up the rocket to Laroche, but still, how about a 1-2-3 after your hitters shtein the bed once in a while?

ice grillin you

historicaly bad is pretty strong.....but they arent good

they are 12th worst in the majors in runners left on per game

and 8th worst in the majors with runner left in scoring position
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous
