they have to now try and win every year...but its gonna get incredibly ugly...to answer your question they cant win until minimum 2017...and by then heidi will have a shattered 34 year old back making a billion dollars a year....but at least you and the rest of the females in south jerz will have the awesome memory of the day in 2012 that the eagles signed cole hamels

well not if they keep going like this. but lets see what happens...rube is going to trade victorino and blanton now. maybe lee in august or in the winter. utley and halladay come off the books after next year and maybe he trades them, too. they can get back some good young players and will have tons of money to spend for 2014, to go with an in his prime hamels.

of course if they keep everyone, make a dumb signing this winter, yea, they could eventually become the cubs.

but there is no way a team that generates the kind of revenue they do will have a 6 year period of terribleness. you are thinking so shallow and negative on this you cant see reality.

he kept doubling down on gillick and wade's work. it didnt happen. oh well.

what im saying is the plan to being good in 2015 is there, but it needed to start last winter. it can still happen, amaro just needs to wake up and the fans need to accept that 2013 is going to be an abortion.

but again, trade lee, doc, utley, vic, blanton...all of a sudden you have a few good young players and ton of money to spend.

the hamels signing was for 2014 and 2015. lee will be a massive waste by then. anyone who cant help them in 2014/15 needs to go NOW. that should be the plan.

and fatty's deal is up at the end of the year. they need to get something for him.

signing heidi means you are going for the ws every year for the next five at least....unless my math is off the next five includes the next two...and the next two should include fatty.....he has as friendly a contract as youd want and is/has been a solid 3-4 guy for a long time....i dont get trading him...who are you going to replace him with that is as good and doesnt cost a lot....i dont see it

but then i remembered you need to score runs. what makes more sense is to take 13 off, then go out and sign the best pitcher and bat on the market in 14. use 13 to develop cloyd, bullpen arms like schwimmer, de frautus, stutes, tony b, horst and bats like hernandez, galvis and brown.

if they do that they should have more than enough to get 2 bats and an arm and a big bullpen piece for 2014. then signing hamels makes a ton of sense.

its a 1 year step back to let your 3-4 major league ready players work shtein out
