The Phillies are my primary focus when they're on, meaning I dvr other shows or flip to them during breaks. I don't want to care at all. They're making it semi-enjoyable to watch.

And I guess we see which direction this team is heading in now, the re-tool and give it another try next season route.

The 2012 Phillies were the first team in history to have two starting pitchers making $20m+. Now they have three.

If you're counting, they have $95m tied up in 4 players for 2013, including Howard.

that would be almost impossible to do...for one thing last time they dealt him in the offseason...this time youd have teams desperate to win a title now...like texas who has been so close but unable to get over the hump and has a loaded system...you can pit teams against each other which raises the price

that being said the prospects are almost secondary to being able to free up his money to stop the bloodshed that this team is going to incur over the next few years...everyone is getting old and/or going to be a free agent...so if their goal is to contend every single year and it clearly is with this heidi signing then lee has to go in order to properly fill all the other spos that are going to need addressing

not to mention lee IS one of the players getting old and degrading

whats really scary is their outfield for next year....they are farged as it stands now

pence would be a nice guy to move to get some prospects but that would leave all three spots in next years outfield needing to be addressed...if you can move lee then in the offseason you go get bourn and a cuddyer type player for lf to go along with pence...

3rd base is pretty much going to be a black hole next year as there isnt much you can do there but if you can significantly improve the outfield and add a couple bull pen arms then maybe you can make a run next year provided choke grit jimmy and halladay all have fountain of youth years...its a huge if...but none of it happens if you dont free up lees money

i personally would blow it all up but theres no point in even talking like that anymore because by giving heidi what they did says they are trying to be players every single year
