It's amazing how bad he's getting lit.

Let's see if these fools have some fight in them

Lolladay strikes again

lets just get this tj thing over with already
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Stick a fork in Doc...he's done. Once your velocity drops there's really no coming back.

Velocity's down all over the MLB this season, but yeah Doc looks not so good.

On the bright side, that's another 20 mil free for the 2014 season. They're only gonna spend this year and next teetering on mediocrity before having a ton of cash to spend and contend again. Utley and Halladay both come off the books after 2013, and there's an 11 million raise in the luxury tax. Sign Hamels, sign Vic, sign but don't overspend on Pence, and bring in a premier 3B or OF in 2014.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

that's assuming revenue generated remains the same if the team continues to tail off

Luckily the NL blows so even with a broken down Roy they should still be in the playoff race up until the end...next year's gonna be the slightly zesty year, especially if they don't resign Hamels. Maybe having Ryan Howard a year+ over the achillies will help them stay afloat in 2013.

Wow, early meltdown this time for Doc.  Heat exhaustion usually kicks in around fifth inning.

Munson

So is he done for the year or are we gonna get "arm fatigue"?

Done after 2 innings.  yea

At this point you have to start to wonder if he has a problem with heat exhaustion.

Munson may be too young to remember those heady days of the late-1980s and 1990s, when Gregg Jefferies was the big FA signing of any particular season.  In the next season or two we may find out whether the ownership has really changed its M.O. or if they'll retreat to their "we're a small market" mentality.

Halladay was stellar the first few starts, and mediocre-to-bad in the last few.  The one thing positive that I cling to is that, mostly, it's been one bad inning in many of those starts.

Getting older and losing velocity happens to all pitchers, especially now that they can't chemically enhance their deteriorating skills quite as easily.  Some pitchers learn to adapt, others don't.  The one thing that Halladay has is a cerebral method of pitching that may be able to find a way to adapt to a diminishing fastball.

doc's replacements: dave bush or scott elarton

yes.

No I definitely remember some of those days...I would say my earliest real memory was the Schilling trade that brought Crazy Vicente and Omar Daal (And Travis Lee??). I vaguely remember the 93 season but only because I loved Kruk and Dykstra.

I'm just hoping now that they've taken the steps they've taken to spend money the last few years, it means they're here to stay and here to compete year in and year out. I know everyone (IGY) hates the "south jersey fans" but as long as CBP stays the "hip" place to be and continues to sell, that's more money for the franchise to spend.

He must really be looking forward to the cool, crisp months of June, July and August.
