Hamels can pitch effectively for another 10 years. You have to try to re-sign him. However, the Phils should definitely consider seeing what they can get for Halladay, Victorino, and/or Pence. Not sure anyone else on the roster has enough value to warrant anything but a salary dump. I perceive that Lee's career may last longer than Halladay's, but either way his contract sure does, so you'd think Roy's trade value is much better.

Sucks to think about, but this team ain't doing shtein this year.

QuoteBlue Jays Inquired On Hamels, Victorino
By Ben Nicholson-Smith [May 11, 2012 at 8:04am CST]
In anticipation of possible midseason trades, the Blue Jays have asked the Phillies about left-hander Cole Hamels and center fielder Shane Victorino, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports. Though GM Ruben Amaro Jr. has said the Phillies could become sellers and Hamels and Victorino are on track for free agency this offseason, no deal is close or likely.

Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos asks about other teams' star players regularly, but there's a difference between due diligence and serious trade talks. The Blue Jays have reportedly inquired on Felix Hernandez, Michael Pineda, Gio Gonzalez, Jose Reyes, Alex Gordon and others under Anthopoulos without acquiring any of those players. Meanwhile, Amaro told Rosenthal that he needs to be mindful of the Phillies' short and long-term goals.

QuoteRooting for this Phillies team to win right now is like rooting for a lit stick of dynamite not to explode.

Good analogy.

If you took a preliminary NL MVP vote, Matt Kemp would win. But this catcher would be in the Top 10. http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/28447/carlos-ruiz Two more RBI today

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

SunMo

lol at blame dom brown.

he should be up playing right now but Rube insists on keeping him in AAA all year for some retarded reason
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

i have no problem with him coming up and getting 450 at bats...it doesnt matter at this point they are horrible...but to think hes going to produce at this level is nuts...he sucks in triple A...h would be a joke in the majors right now
