i think smugly is awful as well....but i dont really know what he could have done with what he has to work with....they are an ancient roster all getting old at the exact same time....he should have went for offense over giving paplebon a trillion dollars...but other than that smug went all in a few years ago to win a a title and they just didnt get it done...all thats happening now is what we all knew would result at some point....

the disgraceful part of what is going on this year is that they didnt win a title in the last couple years....they do that an no one gives a shtein about what is happening now or for the foreseeable future....which is gonna be ugly as well

really though if the red sox and cardinals can win multiple titles in the decade.....then theres absolutely no reason the rollins choke utley victorino chooch heidi core shouldnt have done the same

thats how i will always view this phillies era....2008 was absolutely phenominal but it was more about the city finally ending a drought than it was the phillies winning...they needed a second title in the worst way to put their own stamp down as a legendary TEAM
