perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

ice grillin you

easy is way more of a homer than romey...easy and pg are the homer kings around these parts

romey will kill the teams in ways that easy doesnt have in him

i disagree with sunny and sd a lot but they are right down the middle in general....not homers or haters...maybe its because they are both super hero movie nerds

i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Rome

The clever thing is really not working out for you.

Munson

Nick Swisher could be an affordable guy next year...

All that I'm saying is two things:
1. When you have good starting pitching anything can happen
2. It's two weeks into the season

Raise your hand if you thought the Cards would win the World Series last season, the Giants would win the World Series in 2010, or the Phillies would win the World Series in 2008 two weeks into the season [Yes I skipped the Yankees 2009 version because they stocked up with Sabathia/Burnett/Texeira]. I actually think struggling early might be a blessing in disguise but we'll see. For right now this is looking like a .500 club, but I'm willing to wait a little longer to see what they've got. Again, you don't win the Pennant in April

ice grillin you

the difference bwtn those teams and the phillies this year is we arent discussing whether the phillies can win the world series...we know thats not the case...we are discussing how far they fall into the abyss

the cards actually had talent. the phillies are hitting freddy galvis 7th.

its not april. they arent good.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I'm not hiding.  The offense sucks and there's nothing that can be done right now, so just ride it out.

SD

By that time football season will start so we won't give a shtein

The Phillies are getting off easy thanks to the Flyers.

SunMo

bring dom brown up

get mark reyonlds from baltimore, throw polanco into the sun

wait for howard and kneey mcknees to come back

hope for the best

this team is in trouble.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Sgt PSN

The only thing that's somewhat keeping hope alive for me right now is the fact that over the last several years, the Phils have made a splash in the trade market to address needs.  I don't think they can hold off until the trade deadline to make a move though because it'll probably be too late at that point, so they'll have to be very proactive and aggressive to get something done in May or June.  Adding 1 legit bat to the lineup could make it at least an average lineup and with the pitching they have, an average lineup will help a lot and then if Grit and Choke come back and are at least semi-productive, then things could really be looking up.  There's a lot of "ifs" in that scenario but I don't think they are out of the realm of possibility.  Basically, I'm gutting it out with this team until Jul 1.

If Jul 1 comes around and they haven't added a bat via trade and Howard and/or Utley aren't back in the lineup and producing, then I'm calling it quits for the year.

ice grillin you

i dont know that one bat (other than a healthy 2007 choke) would even help this lineup....something that has been covered up by the fact that the lineup on paper as whole is historically bad is the fact that the few quality bats they do have (pence, jimmy in particular) have been terrible....if they dont start hitting at a high level it doesnt matter what you add in a trade

See if they can pry Mark Trumbo away from the Angels. Deal with his horrible defense at 3B, or stick him in the OF where he's not too bad. And he can play 1B until Howard comes back.

the thing that kills them the most is they have 1 guy (pence) who is above being a singles hitters

just think about it from an odds perspective. they need 3 hits to score a run, basically. pierre, vic, jimmy, ruiz, galvis are all singles hitters. wiggerton blows. what are the odds that all of those guys are going to string together 3 hits or string together 3 good on base at bats in a row?

meanwhile, back when they had good players, all they had to do was get 1 person on for utley, howard or werth, and that person could score because...wait for it...those players had power and could hit for extra bases. amazing coincidence.

the general make up of the lineup is fatally flawed. thats not on charlie, its on rube. what is on charlie is not getting desperate enough to get a run when they have the chance to do it.
