No big surprise but glad to see it.

The NFL announced Monday that the punishment levied by commissioner Roger Goodell would stand for head coach Sean Payton, general manager Mickey Loomis and assistant head coach/linebackers Joe Vitt.

Payton's suspension will begin on April 16 and he will be forced to miss the entire 2012 season. The suspensions of Loomis (eight games) and Vitt (six) will begin at the end of the preseason.

The NFL never cared whether Films made money. But when Bornstein and Katz arrived, it suddenly started caring how much it was losing. Katz wouldn't say how much that was, but according to another league executive with knowledge of Films' finances, it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 million a year.

Oh, man. How can anything survive that kind of bleeding on a mere $9 billion a year?

man i loved rivers coming out...hes been a disappointment mostly due to injuries but is still only 26 and i think would be a great fit with all those other guys on their front seven...provided his wrist is ok

Same and I would definitely take a chance on Rivers. If Meco is the only LB upgrade then they still haven't addressed the issue as far as I'm concerned. I'll hold off on my opinion until after the draft but I can't see them selecting a LB with one of their first 3 picks and their history of selecting LBs is awful.

if Ryans can play at pre-injury level, then I'm actually okay with the other two assumed starters. They played okay last year, and I think they can be okay playing next to a real LB. If he's not at pre-injury level, then yeah I'd like another upgrade please.

Even if Ryan plays in pre-injury form the other two LBs are still a liability. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with Chaney/Matthews/Rolle [in nickel] as backups and on STs, but they're not every down LBs. I was actually semi encouraged from what I saw from Matthews at the end of last season. My guess is SAM Chaney MIKE Meco WIL Matthews...Rolle in Nickel situations. Is that really a big upgrade? I'd say no, you're putting a guy you hope is healthy in the middle and still have the other scrubs out there. They need at least one more talented LB to be the every down starter

Rivers to the Giants is all but done. Bengals are only getting a 5th in return. I would have shipped a 5th to them in a heartbeat for Rivers. He's still only 25 years old.
